DOB: Braves offseason about to get a lot busier. - Gamel released.

Once upon a time there was this 19 year old who hit Atlanta's lineup like a whirlwind. People then said the same things about him they are now saying about Trout and Harper. His name: Andruw Jones.

Chipper Jones got a lot of the same adulation upon arrival in the bigs. His problem on the national level: Bad pud from the Hooters episode and injuries early on.

I'm not saying I wouldn't trade Kimbrel for Profar but how is that ludicrous? What has Profar done at the major league level? Name one tool that he has that's elite?

I am not rehashing the Profar/Kimbrel debate again. Let's just say that if someone doesn't understand how Profar is a far more valuable asset than Kimbrel at this point in time it isn't really even worth discussing. You can learn about the value of cheap up the middle position players vs expensive closers on your own time.

N/M ... I shouldn't.

He's from Curaçao! :YDS:

Gregorious
Schoop
Bogaerts
Simmons
PROFAR

It's just inevitable.

Would love to see Wren take a shot at Andrew Bailey and/or John Axford on a 1-2 year deal to keep building pen depth. Both should come relatively cheap given how few Closer spots are available around MLB.

I would go all in for Samardizja. He's got legitimate ace stuff and was dominant for a good part of last year before tiring down the stretch. He'll obviously be expensive to get but nowhere near the price of David Price. I also think he's got the potential to be a TOR if he continues to develop. Would love that power arm in the playoffs.

Really disappointed Wren didnt get in on the Fister trade. For what the Nationals traded I would gladly take Fister to be our #4 starter. Also I read that the Angels offered Howie Kendrick for Fister before he was traded to the Nats. Maybe we could have done that deal and got them to take a few million of Uggla's contract too. That solves 2B for 2 years. A similar Braves package would be Ryan Buchter, Tyler Pastornicky, and David Hale.

Also disappointed Wren didnt go after Norichicka Aoki. IF BJ sucks this coming year we need a better backup plan than Jordan Schafer.

Heyward wont agree with us that Aoki would have been a good pickup.

A guy I trust told me we were very interested in Jeff Samardizja. He has been right before as well. He told me about Hinske signing and that Prado would be in the Upton deal before I ever saw it reported.

Look for us to make a push to get him during the WM.

Ya kinda wonder if a guy like Samardizja would step up his game if he was on a contender.

Samardzija is an interesting target. The Cubs farm system is heavy with position prospects, light on pitching prospects. Also I don't believe they have a top catching prospect. Makes me think we match up very well with the Cubs. Maybe we can also get them to throw in James Russell, who would be our second lefty in the pen until Venters gets back.

Something along the lines of Samardzija and Russell for Bethancourt and Hale makes a lot of sense to me.

Yea it's been talked about a lot that the Cubs are looking for young SP's. I'm sure they have lots of interest in Wood as a start.
