Official Offseason Thread

I would LOVE it if we could sign Ozuna. Then turned and Flipped Waters, Riley, Anderson, and 4th filler prospect for Ramirez. Our lineup would be stacked then and we would still have Pache

Love the power and delta in ozunas bb/k rates.

He hasn't seemed to put it together aside from one season though. Also may have been unlucky last year.

Chapman and his 4 years of control is one of the very few players it would make sense to trade Pache to acquire.

The As aren’t trading Chapman this offseason though, and by the time they would consider trading him next offseason it’s quite likely Pache is too valuable for 3 seasons of him.

Precisely. I just figured that year is a difference maker although I'm a fan of Chapman too. I like him a great deal. It's a 1a and 1b I guess with Pache and Waters, but from the rookie leagues to now, he just continues to make progress. He's the gamble for me. Great point about Chapman.

Rosenthal and Morosi stopped a little short of juicy speculation when they just had their little Correa discussion on the Network. Sensible to point out the Reds as a potential Correa suitor, but they didn't offer a potential return. Wouldn't a Jonathan India for Correa straight-up deal be pretty good for both sides? India is obviously blocked, and adding Correa to go with Moose really upgrades their offense when Correa's healthy.

Interesting that the closest hitter comp for Ozuna (based on statcast) is Freddie Freeman, per MLB.com

There’s a real upside play with Ozuna. And if you believe the DH comes to the NL, then that mitigates some of the defensive downside risk.

I think I might prefer Ozuna at 4/60 to Donaldson at 3/75.

A lot of people are speculating on MLB Network that Cole signs tomorrow.

If he signs with the Yankees do you think the Angels then move on to Rendon? If so, the Donaldson market heats up instantly.

Conversely, if Angels sign Cole then that leaves Texas and Washington and us for Rendon and Donaldson.

I think if those are the two options I prefer Donaldson. I bank on him living up to the contract in years 1 and 2, and then praying to g-d he doesn’t decline too much in year 3.

Well this just happened. Damn. This should loosen up the market. Tomorrow should be an interesting day!

My guess is Rendon goes to the Angels now. Especially after they cleared payroll today.

Odd because the most intelligent poster to ever grace these boards said he would only get 25 per.

Now that the 2 pitchers are off the market Rendon should go pretty quick now. Hopefully we can resolve our 3b issue in the next week.

What would Maddux get in today’s market coming from the Cubs the first time?

Probably on par with this. Although you have to wonder if there would be a direct correlation between money and velocity. Maddux was the best, but he was doing it throwing 90 mph. Or maybe Boras sells Maddux as having a safer risk for injury due to less velo? Who knows. But certainly good food for thought.
