Yes, but that’s not how contracts with opt outs are valued. The absolute best upside scenario is not the total value.

I’m unsure why this is still unclear.

It's a lose lose for the team. If the player plays well they opt out and you potentially lose him bc you have to bid on his services vs all other teams. If he tanks or plays poorly he opts in and you are then stuck with his contract. I wish everyone would understand an opt out clause is only good for the player.

Work out a deal where we can rent Arenado for 2 years and send him back to Colorado if he accepts the opt out. I'm sure there's a win win win scenario out there.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think something clicked with Ozuna. I think he is peaking and will be very, very productive the next 3-4 years.

I believe at 29-32 he will end up being more productive than 33-37 JD years.

I don’t think we will sign him, I “do” think we will wish we had when things are said and done.

That idea has Coppy written all over it. I’m pretty sure we aren’t going down that colluding road anytime soon.

Why was Coppy banned for life? We all just kind of accepted it, but I think we needed a better reason than just cheating to get a guy. What a weird decision that was. Did any of the supposed baseball investigative reporters get an answer why he was banned for life?

Wasn’t he a prick in real life? coppy was still being shady after other teams got in trouble and when he was confronted with the evidence of what he was doing, coppy still denied it. Rumors are that Blakely fellow confessed to everything and ratted Coppy out. I’m sure the Commish didn’t appreciate Coppy lying and not accepting any responsibility.

Cash coming to the Braves in the event Arenado doesn’t opt out makes more sense.

No idea how it could be structured, but something like $20M if he does opt out and $70M if he doesn’t opt out would make his contract good enough to expect something like Riley in return.

I think the cash is key. I wouldn’t mind sending them Riley or a top prospect. I’d just want them to offset the money we’d be on the hook for. I like the structure you outlined if Arenado does/doesn’t opt out of his contract. Not sure how doable that is, or if it’s been done before, but that’s something I would want.

Mmmm. The thought of having a still in prime Arenado for a few years sounds very enticing.

I just would wanna shift the lineup so Acuna is either hitting 2nd or 3rd, and Arenado is hitting on the other spot. If Acuna is 3rd I'd like Freeman or Arenado in the 2 hole (Albies leading off). But if Ronald is 2nd then switch Freddie and Nolan based on matchups.

If I weren't so lazy I'd compile the last week's worth of tweets regarding JD from Heyman. It's the same garbage just re-worded. He's literally talking in circles.

Sure.

Of course you can say this about all those guys when nothing's happening. They're ALL re-hashing their own crazy trade ideas and mentioning for the 149th time that Donaldson to the Gnats makes sense just like we are - not sure why folks expect them to be able to come up with a "scoop" every 2-3 hours when there's literally nothing happening. Yes it was a week ago (and at the Winter Meetings), but doesn't it make just as much sense to ask where the *ell Rosenthal was while Heyman broke every piece of news that came out of San Diego for four days?

Wasn't that situation a few years back with Heyman about Donaldson? The one where the agent said Heyman was lying and making up stories about the player because of a bias against the agency, and the player basically told Heyman to stop making up fake sources? That was Donaldson, right?

I think the Stanton deal between the Marlins and Yankees had some of these features.

Heyman makes his living hawking Boras business and mouthpiece for MLB network et al. Forgot WFAN. He has to create words in order to eat. For what its worth.

That's cute... clv has a crush

Should not be a mystery to clv or any others why Heyman was able to break the story on Cole, Stras, and Rendon. All Boras clients.
