Official Offseason Thread

Seems pretty obvious to me that no one is going to exceed Freddie and no one is going to flaunt their contracts in Acuna and Albies faces. AA has never faltered in his expressions of faith in Riley and there are still tons of viable options for cleanup hitters including adjusting our lineup.

I’d be shocked if we sign Ozuna. He came out not too long ago and said he wants to sign with either Stl or Texas (I think?) I forget who the other team was, but I really doubt he’s coming here.

It’s going to be Castellanos and a whole lot of meh.
 
It sucks to have missed out on JD but 100 million dollars for a 34 year old is a deal that could kill a contention window.

I do like that AA has stuck with his strategy of short term AAV contracts that don’t mortgage the future for today.

If AA was going to change his strategy i guessed it would be for JD.

Fml. I’d rather put a rock in the cleanup spot, take the 0fer, and save the money. This isn’t 2007. Longoria is washed up and overplayed. We need to build our roster around young, solid players. Not retreads.
 
We have room in the payroll for a JD type of salary, it’s the years that AA wasn’t comfortable with. AA knows he needs a cleanup hitter so I expect something soon now that JD is off the market.

If we’re going to pony up top prospects I’d rather do it for Arenado. Just bite the bullet and do it. But see if we can get him to wave his opt out. If there was ever a time to push our chips in the middle, this is it. Stop half assing things.
 
I think it needs to be castellanos AND a trade for a real upgrade at 3b.

I don’t think kB or arena do has a lot of surplus value. Better to have paid rendon.

If we get two bats then ender would have to go.

I agree. But hindsight is 20/20. AA probably thought he was going to sign JD for 3 years with the money within budget and therefore didn’t want to entertain Rendon. Now that that is off the table he’s kind of backed into a corner.
 
Castellanos was a horrible 3b back in the day...how about playing him at 3b? Anyone?...kidding on this

Senzel does not have a home for the reds. Do we have anyone they would want outside of soroka acuna Albies?

Feels like Kyle Seager for more than I want to give up
