Impeachment

Wow Jay Sekulow citing a supreme court judge saying that an obviously guilty person could be let go if their due process rights were sufficiently violated. Not the best argument there.
 
I think it’s extremely likely that the trajectory of the Ukraine story is going to get worse for the President. The Senate is going to vote in his favor, more bad **** is going to come out, MAGA types are going to do the usual thing, Republicans in close elections are going to sadly shake their heads and say it’s a shame how badly the Democrats mishandled the impeachment inquiry, and there’s not going to be a reckoning for any of it.

It is up to the voters if there is to be a reckoning. I'm a bit more optimistic on that score.
 
The House Managers should just play video clips all day of Trump and Republicans like Graham and McConnell constantly contradicting themselves on everything.
 
Trump's defense team have not argued facts or evidence all day. Just procedural stuff.

Schiff is going to be Senator one day when Feinstein retires.
 
Schiff has been incredible today.

No wonder Trump has been targeting him for the last 2 years. Schiff is the Dems best weapon on the floor against Trump in the House and in the Senate. Eloquent speaker. Out of all the speakers on both teams today, Schiff looks like the kid that studied for his test. Nadler even looked a bit fatigued after not speaking all day.

Sekulow is the only person on Trump's side that is close to matching the level of shrewdness as Schiff.

I think he needs to dumb down his speeches and put more emotion into his verbs. Can Americans really follow a sentence longer than 8 or 10 words???

I'm sure he's got speech writers and coaches and he's being deliberate in his approach. I just think his academic, monotone style is over the heads of most Americans. Trump's ignorant uncle rant is the better vehicle for an uneducated and ill-informed public.

This is another reason the president is hesitant to allow Bolton to appear. "You don't like people testifying when they didn't leave on good terms, and that was due to me, not due to him," Trump added.

Wowzers. When have you ever seen Trump with humility and take blame for something? This just tells me that he REALLY is scared of Bolton testifying. The fear is real.
 
I’ve never been a particular fan of his but he is making a cogent and persuasive case. He’s done a terrific job today. It’s a shame he’s arguing before a jury which has already been rigged.

Also a shame the Senate controls the cameras. Would be great to see the old republican senators scribbling doodles bored and napping while Schiff is up ther etalking. Even better to have the cameras on Collins, Romney, Gardner...
 
I only knew of Schiff from a few appearances on Bill Maher and Chris Matthews for many years. But ever since Trump's Presidency, Schiff has been in the spotlight more as the ranking member on the Nunes intelligence committee the first 2 years, then now as committee chairman.

His political brand has certainly skyrocketted since Trump came into office.
