Official Offseason Thread

What's amazing to me is that the deal died because the BoSox saw Graterol's medical reports and realized he couldn't stay healthy, and I'm just wondering how they somehow didn't figure out before the deal that the guy gets hurt twice per season and only averages 44 2/3 innings per season as a starting pitcher? What in the holy hell were they looking at if that never came up until someone sent them medical reports?

If the Betts trade falls through and the world knows the Sox will eat half of the Price contract should AA go after a trade for Price? Say Price for Newk.

No. Price for 3/48 isn't terrible, but it isn't the sort of risk a team like us needs to make.

Must have been worse than they thought. One way to look at it—as Edwards as FG outlined—is that there are degrees of reliever risk. His hypothetical: if the medicals dropped his SP likelihood from, say, 20% to 5% in Boston’s eyes, that’s a lot of relative value, or at least enough to give them pause and ask for more.

This is what happens when Dave Dombrowski gets involved with prospects.

Oh wait...

Passan- BREAKING: The trade that will send Mookie Betts to the Los Angeles Dodgers has been agreed upon, sources tell ESPN. Outfielder Alex Verdugo and shortstop Jeter Downs are among those who will go to the Boston Red Sox.

Looking even worse than the original trade for the Dodgers. Be interesting to see if they actually trade Maeda now.

They traded Maeda, deal is official, other players added into it, arent out yet.

Sounds like so far.

Downs, Verdugo, Connor Wong to Boston

Graterol, Betts, 67th pick, Price to LA.

Maeda and 10 million to Min.

I'm interested to see if the Dodgers send any of the assets they received from the Twins to Boston. If not, then I'm starting to like this deal for the Dodgers a lot more. I also like this deal substantially more for the Red Sox as well. Getting Downs and Wong is much better than just Graterol given the concerning medicals.

Yeah... confused how this works out better for the Dodgers... they gave up two more guys I really like in Downs and Wong and received the pitcher with the sketchy injury history.

Yeah I actually thought that Wong was moving over from the Twins for some reason. Also didn't realize just how good Wong was at the plate last year. Definitely a big improvement for the Red Sox and worse for the Dodgers.
