4:10 opener on Friday 7/24 on ESPN against the Mets

Just comparing our schedule to the Nationals, really not fair, especially when every game matters.

We have 4 vs NYY, they have 3.
We have 3 vs BAL, they have 6
We have 6 vs Red Sox, they have 3
We have 3 vs TOR, they have 4

That's odd. I figured this would be the perfect year to have an evenly balanced schedule.

Not only this, but we have 7 homes games against the Marlins and then 7 road games at the Phillies. We also have 6 road games against the Mets of the matchups. We got screwed with the balance.

I just don't see why it couldn't be 5 road games/5 home games against each division rival and 2 home games/2 road games against each AL team just to make it fair.

I'm sure TV dictated the schedule, but use travel partners. I'd the Braves are in New York against the Mets, go ahead and schedule them to play the Yankees right after to eliminate unnecessary travel. If the Braves are hosting the Rays, have the Marlins come in right after. Our travel partner would be the least logical one with Toronto but Boston/Philly, NYY/NYM, Washington/Baltimore, and TB/MIA all make sense.

It seems like it was done based on travel time. Teams seem to have long stretches of away games followed by long stretches of home games. Another detriment to the Braves is we have to play 20 straight days without a day off, then get 3 within like a 10 day period.

I don’t really think the home/away split will be as much of an issue a there won’t be fans, so no true home field advantage in that regard.
