Tens of thousands of people protested in Khabarovsk, Russia, on Saturday in a rare display of opposition to President Vladimir Putin, chanting “Putin Resign” and demanding the release of a regional governor arrested on suspicion of multiple murders.

Thankfully the world is starting to push back and as long as the US doesn't do anything stupid like elect Biden we will finally put enough pressure on china to promote democracy.

It's old video apparently. Still we should not overlook this in our dealings with China.

Hong Kong, Tibet too.

It seems to me we should find a way to provide more support to Taiwan, which has developed into a vibrant democracy. Most people in Taiwan now self-identify as Taiwanese, even the ones whose grand parents fled the mainland.

A couple years ago, I made the point in a different thread that China was occupying Tibet. That it was once an independent country. And Tibetans considered themselves an occupied people. And you pooh poohed this. Anyhow welcome aboard.
