I want to have reason to believe. But he is probs toast. A healthy hamels with Soroka and Fried for a playoff run would be nice.

Depends. I DO think they think they're going to get something from him down the stretch, but that something may be piggybacking one of the kids with him. If you could get 4 innings from him starting next month and follow him with Touki that could be a pretty lethal combination. Then pair up Wright and Tomlin. If you could get 4 starts from Hamels in September, he could conceivably stretched out enough to be able to follow Soroka and Fried in a Game 3 and give you 6 innings.
Put some jelly on him.
just now noticed this, but our old friend Victor Reyes put up 1.6 fWAR with the Tigers last year. of course, it was on the shoulders of a .384 BABIP, but still interesting. he got plucked by the DBacks in the rule 5 at just 20, without playing above A-ball. cool that's he hung around and had some legit success.
