How do you fix it? Bust up the unions and end qualified immunity.

When congress created legislation to do so, Pelosi didn't vote on it.

Address that

House approves police reform bill named in honor of George Floyd
https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/25/politics/house-police-reform-legislation-vote/index.html

The House legislation -- titled the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act of 2020 -- has provisions to overhaul qualified immunity for law enforcement, prohibitions on racial profiling on the part of law enforcement and a ban on no-knock warrants in federal drug cases. It would ban chokeholds at the federal level and classify them as a civil rights violation, and would establish a national registry of police misconduct maintained by the Department of Justice.

Same with teachers

Everyone has a peak in their profession and declines after that. There are ways to manage that. But its a bit different in policing. Its a bit more than a guy slowing down or losing interest. I've read a bit about Chauvin and Tao. In the case of Chauvin, there were things in his record even as a younger cop that were pretty problematic. Tao just looks like a fish out of water. And this guy in Kenosha. Well he might be ok in a sleepy little town. But what kind of idiot shoots someone in the back seven times like that. Setting aside the racial element, it is just mind-boggling to me that he kept shooting like that. The last 5 shots surely amount to a sort of depraved indifference to life. Or a panic attack.

/QUOTE]

Busting up the unions is the last option,

Who would be spox for police.
The police must have input

Would you rather a hand picked spox or one voted on by the police collective?

C'mon man
you desire to bust unions is text book cutting off nose to spite face.

The Justice Democrats wing of the party sides with you on ending qualified immunity. As am I
My best guess is in the legislative process this was the best deal Pelosi was going to get.
The word, " overhaul"

Its not racism. If it was racism there wouldn't be twice as many whites killed than blacks from cops

https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/US/PST045219

do the math

and it isnt just the misleading raw number you tout.
How many instances of police brutality inflicted on POC go unreported ?
Simply because they see everyday how the Breonna Taylor shooting is being handled.
And not only the policing.
We were asked not to use the term " systemic racism" the other day.
I disagree
It is real and it's name needs speaking

3-1 white to POC --- 2-1 police shooting.

c'mon you are a math guy --- right

I didn't say it was proportional to population. But killing that many white people kinda undermines the "cops are racist" narrative.

It is in fact disproportionately in favor of blacks when you consider violent crime rates.

Not everything is racist just bc you want it to be

Of course you didnt say proportional
That is why it is such a misleading stat.
It is like saying Charlie Culberson is a better hitter than Freddie because he made less outs

And why is there proportionally higher violent crime rates ?
Does it start with P and end in Y ?
And why is that ?
And what is the history of that P word in the POC community ?
And why is it with a wink and a nod nudged along by those that profit from perpetrating said P word ?

Dont want anything to be racist.
But to borrow a phrase I am apt to call "a spade a spade"

It is indeed poverty based.

Perhaps we should support policies that enable lifting people put of their bad situations... not just keeping them on the government welfare dependency cycle

Nahhhhhh. Then they might not vote for D!

your solution would never see the Senate floor. Same as the 400+ on McConnell desk

When in my 20's there were multiple job training programs.
What happened ?

I’m not a “shut up and dribble” guy ...if the NBA players were willing to sacrifice a year and the money that goes with it, more power to them. I’m all for people putting their money where their mouths are.

That said, I can’t lose an NBA bet since they restarted the season, so I’m glad it looks like they’re going to continue, lol.

I'm still trying to understand the sacrifice of postponing a game until tomorrow is

speaking of race

one of the best highlights of the RNC from the "america isn't racist"

was a speaker who changed her name to sound more white saying it and then going on about how much racism her parents had to go through as immigrants

and the cherry on top was the "never had a racist law"

while the constitution said black people were 3/5ths of a person from the start

Yeah, not sure...maybe they scare the owners into kicking in dollars to help support...something. Not sure what the end game is, but if they get the right people to help them and advise them, maybe they capitalize on the moment.

"He had a knife."
"He used a counterfeit $20 bill."
"He was selling loose cigarettes."
"He was playing with a toy gun in the park."
"He walked home."
"She was driving down to her new job."
"She was asleep in her own house."
"He complied and reached for his license, registration."

Talking points for conservative media:

Kyle Rittenhouse is white. Rittenhouse is a high school dropout.

Rittenhouse possessed military-grade firearms illegally.

When it's a black guy killed by police,

you report on his parking tickets.

This is confusing to you.

We want to help.

When you cross state lines with an AR15

and end up killing people you’re not

defending your home.
