Agree. I don't know if it's a problem of "can't" or "won't" but it is absolutely maddening.

It's ridiculous, but at least for Newcomb and Touki, there's precedent in their minors walk rates (about 17%). Wright had a 11% walk rate in the minors, and has a 30% walk rate as a starter in the majors. That one is baffling.

I feel like it's a borderline fire-able offense is Folty is throwing 95 in Gwinnett and Erlin is still starting for the Braves.
Even if he can only keep up the velo for 50 pitches. You'd be likely to get 3-4 innings and maybe 1-2 runs instead of total disaster. You could piggy back him and likely get to the 5-6 with a "quality start" between him and Maztek/Tomlin.

1) completely agree and on brand! LOL 2) my friend is close with Folty and he said it's true. He's gone to a couple of sessions and the expectation is that Folty will be back in the next week. It'll be interesting to see if its true.
The more interesting question for your friend that inquiring minds want to know is "What in the *ell happened to cause him to lose all that weight in the first place?" He wasn't exactly an imposing physical specimen to begin with.
If he's as plugged-in as you say he is, he can probably answer that one.

All he said was that it was "personal." So, I honestly don't know but I can say there was some kind of reason for it.
