One thing worth noting about Preller going nuts with trades...
The only players that were on their roster that they DIDN'T control beyond this year when he started trading were Garrett Richards and Jurickson Profar (Kirby Yates is on the IL, but you could argue they already had his replacement in Pomeranz and that Rosenthal just makes them that much deeper for this run). That means they had exactly TWO roster spots opening this winter. They still haven't added Gore (probably takes Richards' 40-Man spot) or Campusano (probably takes Profar's). THREE of the guys they traded away were already on their 40-Man, and FOUR of the prospects they traded away (not all in the Clevinger trade) would have had to be added this winter.
Not criticizing the returns or the "go for it" mentality, but they actually didn't have a lot of choice - if they didn't make more than a couple of moves, they were in danger of losing some *amn-talented young players/prospects because they were going to be facing a pretty serious roster crunch this winter.
