Rotation for the rest of the season

Hamels is supposedly starting Wednesday's game. There would be 10 games after that start for the rest of the season. With Fried scheduled to come off the DL that day and Folty throwing tomorrow at Gwinnett, the rotation would lineup somewhat in this order.....

Hamels 9/16 @ Baltimore
OFF DAY 9/17
Fried 9/18 @ Mets
Anderson 9/19 @ Mets
Folty 9/20 @ Mets
Hamels 9/21 vs Miami
Fried 9/22 vs Miami
Anderson 9/23 vs Miami
Folty 9/24 Vs Miami
??? 9/25 vs Boston
Hamels 9/26 vs Boston
Fried 9/27 vs Boston

That 9/25 game, you could theoretically use Newk, Tomlin, Wright, Touki, or some combination of those guys

Would Snit let Fried start game 1 of the playoffs in a best of 3, or would he go with the gritty vet in Hamels (like Keuchel last year).

Kinda wonder if Anderson doesn't take the start on the 18th and they give Fried one more day.

Separates the lefties, and you could just flip-flop Fried and Hamels for the playoff series to have Fried go game one.

Fried is not the same situation as Soroka was last year. Fried has pitched in the playoffs and this isn’t his first full year. If he comes back pitching like he has all year he is clearly you’re number one

Fried just came off the DL and is going to pitch on 3 days rest the 22nd? Anderson also on 3 days rest the 23rd? Doubtful.

If Fried goes on the 18th, and is slated to start game 1 of the playoffs, he should also get a start on the 23rd or 24th.

OFF DAY 9/28

Best guess playoff schedule

Fried 9/29 vs 7 seed
Anderson 9/30 vs 7 seed
OFF DAY 10/1
Hamels 10/2 vs 7 seed

Fixed to line up our best pitchers for playoff starts. Rotation designed to give Hamels 3 tune up starts while giving Fried before the postseason. Folty and Wright compete for the 4th spot in the playoff rotation while we transition Tomlin back to the bullpen. Tomlin can move back to the 4 spot if both Folty and Wright blow up.

Touki is starting Monday, TBD on Tuesday and Hamels on Wednesday on MLB.com. Off day on Thursday, so Fried on Friday, Anderson on Saturday, Folty Sunday?

Since the Braves are a lock for postseason, there isn’t a scenario more valuable than having Fried start game 1 of a 3 game series.

In a 3 game series where each starter only goes once. I'd argue it's more important to ensure the team doesn't end up the 5th seed. Winning the division right now would get us the Giants at home.

Fair. I wonder if specifically for this Braves team if it makes sense to treat Fried like an opener and try to squeeze him into game 1 and 3 (3-4 innings).

I think you’re forgetting the fact that Hamels will hurt himself lifting his toothbrush the night before his first scheduled start. And Folty will take the mound weighing 87 pounds and not be able to throw harder than 75 miles an hour, but after the game he’ll say he feels fine and doesn’t understand why the team is making such a big deal of it.

Being at home doesn’t matter?
Talent wins games.

Over the history of baseball the home team has won about 54% of the time. So once again, the resident moron is wrong, and home field does matter.

We have to win the division to get the home games, since the Padres are locked into the 4th seed. I'm hoping we can clinch in the next 10 days so we can set up the pitching any way we want.
