Around the League 2020 Edition

Magic numbers are now 9 for playoffs and 12 for division. It feels like they should be lower, but the Braves have played more games than every team behind them.

So you have to think they have to make up the missed games. Otherwise there is a big advantage to taking a few days off for an outbreak...

That’s complete BS about the Cardinals. I was not aware of that. Is there any qualifier to it? Like if they are mathematically in no matter what the results of the would be games are.

To be honest, I just hope the Braves postseason matchup isn't the Marlins or Phillies. It'd be so entirely lame to win the division just to get bounced by one of the teams they beat up on in the regular season.

At least if it's, like, the Giants or something, we'll have gotten a chance to see the Braves play somebody new.

With the way the Braves playoffs go, it will be whoever we dont want to face the most, and we will find a way to lose in excruciating fashion.

Pretty sure they are going by winning % of played games and that's it. Assuming no more issues for the Cards or Fish with two weeks to go things should play out fine on their own though. Cards would finish with 58 games played and the Marlins would finish all 60 games.

I think they said the 6 umpires for the Braves playoffs is Angel Hernandez, CB Bucknor, Sam Holbrook, Jerry Meals, Doug Eddings, and Joe West.

If we end up playing the Marlins they'll probably rent 5 or 6 pieces of heavy equipment to dig up Eric Gregg to work home plate.

The Cards are BS. I want to say they also extended the cancelled games with extra testing while several key players were dinged up. I think they missed like 2 weeks of baseball.

I wouldn't mind facing the Cardinals in the first round this year. They are clearly a worse team than last year. And we will definitely be out for revenge.

Tatis Jr has hit a rough patch the last 5 games while Freeman continues to beast mode.

Tatis: 161 WRC+, 3 fWAR, 2.3 bWAR
Freeman: 186 WRC+, 2.7 fWAR, 2.3 bWAR

Tatis has a ton of hype and rightfully so. Going to need him to hit the struggle train these last two weeks.

Braves have laid off several top scouts with 2 weeks to go in the season. Seems like the Braves are flush wish cash and should have been big players at the deadline.
