I can't get over the entire Trump team thinks that a
peace agreement between countries that have never been
at war means that they've achieved peace in the Middle East.
interesting old thread...like a time capsule from from another century
This thread was started 8 days into his term
And the Trump administration just brokered a historic peace accord between the Jewish State and Muslim Nations. How ironic considering the rhetoric in this thread.
Maybe the previous paradigm we were sold for decades was all a facade?
There literally were rockets fired from Gaza yesterday. The only facade is this "normalization deal."
Wow.
Clueless as usual.
Not surprised this is your hot take.
And the great and wise nsacpi brought it up at almost the worst time since we just saw peace between the Jewish State and Muslim nations all brokered by the Trump administration.
He is just having a difficult time because everything he has preached the last 4 years has been embarrassingly wrong.
Please tell me more about how this "peace treaty" will actually do anything. Nothing has changed.
i bumped it because of the time capsule-like qualities...but i also thought it was interesting that people posting here were not as dug in back then...i think we're a microcosm of what has happened throughout the country
Please tell me more about how this "peace treaty" will actually do anything. Nothing has changed.
last time I was in the UAE, i tried to read an article from the Jerusalem Post and found it was blocked...i think there will be relaxation of petty things like that...and over time more economic, academic and cultural exchanges...all good things...progress...but yeah it's been a while (if ever) since the UAE or Bahrain was in a state of hostilities with Israel
What happens when the Saudis enter and other (mostly Sunni) Muslim nations?
What happens as the people of Iran continue to see signs that the Jews aren't evil?
To understate what this is starting is outright lunacy.
I've run into American Jews working in the UAE and other gulf countries. On the ground those countries don't care who you are as long as you do the job you were hired to do. And we don't care who they are as long as their checks don't bounce.
Of course because it goes along the lines of majority of people in the world are good people
Its about breaking the authoritarians that restrict free will from their populations. Israel signing peace accords across the middle east makes the messaging of the 'evil big nose zionists' that much more difficult to stick.
This is the beginning of lasting peace throughout the middle east. A coalition led by US/Israel/Saudis will destroy the Iranian Theocracy and their proxy armies once and for all.
I think the issue of how Israelis treat Palestinians will remain important. They have an opportunity to build on the goodwill by changing some of their policies.
What happens in Iran is mainly a matter for the Iranian people. Most of them are fed up with the mullahs. But who knows how that one will play out. There are a lot of Iranians working in the UAE btw. Some of the smaller Arab countries have cultivated good ties with Iran. They don't want to be squeezed by the Saudi-Iranian rivalry. That's actually a toxic rivalry between two toxic countries. We and others would be wise to tread carefully there and not be too eager to take a side.
