Once the Phillies are eliminated can we talk about teams in the playoffs?
Hoskins has been pretty solid for them. And Nola has been great obviously. But outside of that, they failed to develop Kingery who was a top prospect and they already signed long term. Their pitching prospects like Pivetta, Eflin and Velazquez haven't been good. Sixto of course they traded. Bohm is looking really good. Moniak turning into a bust as the #1 pick really hurt.
Trading away Sanchez and missing on Moniak have really hurt. Cant miss on 1-1, and Sanchez would have been a great piece to keep with Nola going forward.
Good thing they have a stupid FO to go with their stupid money.
The covid might put a wrench in the Braves upcoming payroll plans but the Braves are setup well to continue to dominate the division for the foreseeable future.
We really only need to keep one of Greene/MM, a cleanup hitter, and a veteran SP. Not sure how realistic that is but depends how much money AA has to work with.
I said this in another thread, reflecting on the Hamels strategy (which was sound, even if hindsight is 20/20), but I'd like to see Anthopoulos bring in two veteran SPs, using that same ~18m. I think two shots at guys in the one-year, $8-10m range is ultimately better than all eggs in one ~$18m basket.
There aren't a lot of top-flight options out there, but there looks like there'll be plenty in the middling range. The exception, obviously is if a short-term deal can be worked out with Bauer (which I'd imagine, at this point, is pretty unlikely).
Not players they got from trade. Nola, Hoskins, Bohm, Haseley, Kingery?, Howard tbd?. It's a short, short, short list. So 6 players?
Spencer Howard, Ryan Howard was a Gwinnett farmhand
I was only going on recent moves. Ryan Howard came up in 2004.
Yes but i believe Cardinals magic # is 1I think we want the Brewers, Reds, and Giants to win tomorrow, forcing the Cards to have to play Monday.
Ugh want no part of the Reds. We aren't beating them.
