Called Up to the Major Leagues
You didn’t answer the question.
Think I answered that ? adequately.

Is Springer a guy who could be hung with a QO, overestimate his market, and be available on a 1 year deal? He seems like the ideal fit for this roster, especially if long term FA contracts are butchered this off season.
How about Justin Turner on a 1 year deal? AA likely knows him well from his days in LA.
LeMahieu?
How much money would they need to eat though? We were paying Markakis what, $6 mil a year? That's a big ask of the Cubs to eat, and I'm not sure how much we are going to pay a platoon type outfielder. Plus if the Cubs eat money, they will want a prospect back.

The guy I kind of like is Joc Pedserson. He had a rough year but with the short year it was different. We could use a good left handed hitter and I think we let Markakis go and possibly move on from Ender. He wouldn’t be cheap but he might be a bargain.
I think DJL stays in NY or gets a long-term deal elsewhere. He should be one of the few guys who gets paid this winter. Springer you could be right on. Turner i think could be had on a 1 yr deal. Pederson i think gets a 3 yr deal somewhere but not an insanely high AAV deal.
I assume we let Flowers walk in favor of one of the youngsters, no? He'll likely cost less than the 4 million he was originally due this year, but the current situation being what it is, I would also assume that money would be better spent other places.
In a normal year I'd look to keep Flowers but with payroll likely being slashed I think it's Contreras time.
These are not robots. They are human with distractions, life, feelings, sickness and everything else that can cause bad decisions sometimes. That is not a character flaw.
think AA will be fine with him not getting every day ABs?
Sure. He will still get regular playing time.
i'd like him to get more ABs than Flowers did this year
Flowers ended up with around 30% of the ABs. I know in years past they have been fairly even among our two catchers but Travis clearly earned the right to have a bigger share with the way he was hitting this year. As long as that's the case I'd be ok with that same ratio next year.

Flowers is probably more deserving of starts than Contreras would be at this stage of their careers.
I think signing Flowers cheap is still in play.
