GDT 10/8 NLDS Game 3: Get the brooms ready

The Braves have been clearly head and shoulders better than the Reds and Marlins, and it’s awesome to see them finally get most of the bounces go their way in the playoffs.

The Dodgers will be the real test.

Pressing my luck = Having him pitch out of jam

Short leash, my friend. Short leash

I am all for letting Wright go as long as he can today.
I think at some point though you sit the youngster down and say job well done. You’d hate to have him go out and allow some runs and then lose some confidence.

Wright one more.

Minty one inning. Then who. You wouldn’t pitch wilson or Yona.

Greene hasnt pitched yet this series. Wright for 1 more, then Minter, Greene, and idk for the 9th. Melancon, Smith, Matzek, O'Day are probably down today. So not sure on the 9th.

Worst position player exit velocity in baseball last two seasons.

He was never particularly good and now he's nearly 30% below average from his strong side.

Did you miss the part about the back injury last year?

Ender doesn’t have a strong side...he only bats LH.

He’s probably a bench OFer now, just like Duvall. That’s what I suggested he would be back when the contract was signed.

With Kersh healthy and pitching like vintage Kersh... they will be difficult.

Tomlin, Minter, Martin, Greene to finish it out...order depending on where the LHHs fall.

Minter and Greene for sure to get them some work.

Probably would be good to throw Webb out there as well. We are going to need our pen arms sharp for the next series.

Ahh there’s the “he’s cruising” false logic.

It’s fine to let Wright stay out there because the game leverage is almost zero. This type of strategic buffoonery is going to be costly vs the Dodgers

My point was the fact that he settled in coupled with the big lead, hey may as well go out for the 6th. I never suggested he should have kept pitching if the game were still close.

His last effective season from his stronger split was 2018, when he had a 94 wRC+ vs RHP. Duvall is a career 92 wRC+ vs RHP, 104 the last two season as a Brave.

So if Ender completely reverses his aging curve, he'd be about as good as you could reasonable expect Duvall to be and much worse than Duvall has been for the last two season.

If you want to get him a platoon mate, that's cool. But Ender sucks man. Particularly when you take into account he's been a below average defender. Nearly half a win to the negative if you extrapolate this season out.

I suggested that when Ender signed his contract that extending mediocre players who depend on their defense to be valuable into their 30s was probably an unnecessary move.

the braves would dearly love to have that 8 or 9 million off their books and it was hardly difficult to see that might be the case.
