Did AA hold Anderson back knowing teams wouldn't get a good read on him until the playoffs?

I have wondered about that. The Marlins did see him twice during the regular season and those were his worst games, so they had seen him plenty prior to Wednesday's game, but no one outside the division has seen him so there's an advantage for him there. Of course, Anderson still has to make the pitches and to this point, he pretty much has been doing that.

Is it fair now to argue that the pitching first mentality worked? Helps to have Acuna/Albies for sure but that was also part of the legacy infrastructure and ideology.

AA had so much to work with and he has basically over performed. Great future!

It was definitely a philosophy based on an internal assessment of what was handed to them.

Its worked out beautifully. Still think there are some more arms down there that will help in the next 5 years.

If not for a fluke accident it would have ended up being even better than it is now which is a home run.

Brilliant strategy and even better brilliant scouting.

Yes, there was little pitching in the system and limited resources from which to grab premium position talent in trades or the draft.

Their big play there was the Latin market and ... welp. They took a few cuts and had some success.
