I thought his off speed stuff looked really good last night. Located his change up at the bottom of the zone and his slider/slurve looked to have really good life. Obviously, his mixing of 4-seamers and 2-seamers is his go to for attacking hitters and he'll need to locate well if he's going to have any success. He typically had good control numbers in the minors so maybe that'll start translating at this level.
 
That was the best Braves game Ive seen in a very very long time. I'm still giddy over it! These guys are having fun, love the moment, and love each other. It's my favorite Braves team to watch. The 90's Braves were all business, but this team's exuberance transcends the 'norms' of baseball and I love it!
 
I loved how wilson didn’t care. He just kept throwing strikes and saying hit it if you can. I doubt anyone thinks he is a new ace but he is super young and still developing his stuff. Stuff that isn’t that bad. If he is our 5th starter next year then I am cool with that.

My favorite thing last night was Freddie mixing it up on second base. That is the first I have seen him do that. Normally he is more like been there done that attitude. But you could tell that moment got to him.

you mean to tell me he's not going to average 6IP and 1 ER against the best lineup in the league?
dammit! i shouldn't even enjoy the performance then.

Freddie hit into some horrid luck the first two series. It’s been amazing to watch him tear the cover off the ball in front of huge audience. Between this and the impending MVP, his days of being underrated should be coming to an end.
 
we all get Wilson isn't some new found ace, or even a rotation staple.
we all get he was pretty fortunate last night and it's not likely to repeat often in the future.
but who ****ing cares about that right now? honestly, if you feel the need to "WELL ACTUALLY" last night's game, i genuinely feel bad for you.
 
It's nice that we were able to come away with the win last night and Snitker didn't have to explain why he made a pitching change before the pinch hitter was announced.
 
Wilson's 2 seamer looked really good last night. He said that's something he's really worked on this year. If he can execute that to lefties he's going to have some success.

It was clearly just a mistake. The announcement of Smith was pretty slow coming and Snitker was caught up in the game. I'm glad he learned that lesson without any negative ultimate impact to the team.

If there is a pitch to master as a backend guy, it’s the fastball. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is one of those guys who throws that pitch 60-80% of the time.
 
Winning last night does give us the luxury to be more conservative tonight. However, I'm not sure I like the idea of letting up. The Dodgers send out Dustin May. While his fastball velocity is impressive, his overall numbers this year are more in the realm of okay.

He had a shiny ERA of 2.57 but his FIP was 4.62 and his xFIP was 3.98. He also posted a BABIP of an unsustainable .234. So it was clear he was lucky. He also wasn't as overpowering as you'd expect for a guy who can hit 100. His K/9 was 7.07. Pretty pedestrian. So while May is a decent pitcher, we probably have a better chance against him than beating the top of LA's rotation again.
 
Braves will need to score 7 tonight to win IMO. First timr i have confidence that they can do it though.

Yeah, it's a short sample size, but Pache 100% looks the part. Working the counts, not looking overmatched, and certainly not showing that the moment is too big for him.

Not saying he's going to be a superstar, but he looks like a starting CFer in every manner of the definition.

That slider/slurve definitely wasn't lackluster last night.

By my calculations Bryse had a FIP of 4.20 last night (nice), so actually we should have still won handily so who gives a ****.

If he can OPS, say, .650 or so in a full season while playing magnificent defense for the league minimum, that's a solid contributor.
