The Coronavirus, not the beer

Feels good to not see Mississippi listed at all in your commentary. Out of sight is usually a good thing for us

Unemployment rate dropped from 7.8% to 7.1%.

Mississippi gets a thumbs up!

The states really struggling are Hawaii and Nevada. Tourism is probably the most affected industry. With or without lockdowns.

I think Hawaii is trying to get things going now that it is past the spike from a month ago. (Edit: I see they are reopening to tourists in two days)

I wanted to go to NYC for Macy's thanksgiving day parade, cancelled.

I then wanted to go to DC, but quarantine.

I then decided on Vegas, but no shows. Don't think I wanna go there with no live shows.

Thought about SF, but don't wanna go 1st time without it being open fully.

Starting to reach now on where to go late Nov/early December

NY is great to visit around Christmas. Nothing like a snowy night in Central Park.

They should be skeptical of any vaccine under a Trump administration because of their history of pushing unproven medicine based on the Teflon Don's gut feeling and also the history of appointing Trump loyalists into non partisan groups go make sure its used to benefit the Trump campaign. The Trump regime has the credibility of Putin or Xi. They look at truth as what they say it is and anyone who disagrees has to be deatroyed.

Do none of those things and either go out west, or the Caribbean or Costa Rica.

Also Belize is awesome

covid deaths since June:

Sweden 420
FINLAND 23
Denmark 81
Norway 28

Generally, the number of cases and deaths have fallen off sharply in the Scandinavian countries since June.

During the April to June period, there were lots of deaths (over 5,000 in Sweden).

It is great to see things improve so much across Scandinavia. I would say this is a pan-Scandinavian development. Not something specific to Sweden.

What remains specific to Sweden is a significantly higher death rate than its peer group countries. Regardless of time period. Significantly higher death rate in the second quarter. And significantly higher death rate since the end of June.

Why is there no large spike in all death rate compared to previous years?

well i'm not the person generating the charts you have posted...perhaps you can ask him

i'd be interested in this number if he can provide it: excess deaths in sweden during the second quarter (weeks 14 to 26) compared to an average for recent years...i believe that number to be in the thousands...but perhaps i am mistaken

Germany hits 50 deaths in a day for first time since June today. Also over 6,800 cases today. Starting to crank up there...

France with 20,468 cases and 262 deaths. First time over 250 deaths since may.

I'll at the data sourced after work... but what is clear is that their population is not suffering any radical outcome when it comes to deaths overall. They have also let their people live their lives.

Meanwhile, the US has over 300K excess deaths than normal this year.

That is with strict lockdowns reducing things like car accidents.

That's 100k people more than covid related deaths.

2 months ago thethe posted something claiming that there was actually less deaths in 2020 compared to the same time period from 2019.
