The tactic they use is to have very strict laws and then choose who to enforce them on. Thats why you see so many conservatives who smoke pot but dont support legalization. They are confident if caught by a cop they wont be arrested. Doesnt work out for all of them but cops can and will selectively enforce the law based on their opinion of the person. All laws should be required to be reauthorized every 20 years because the obstructionism is so bad in government that bad laws dont get repealed. Every now and then theres a 100 year old law that hasnt been enforced in 80 years being used against someone. Many things like marijuana prohibition has zero chance to pass if put up to a vote.

If you don't want to pay sales tax just produce all you need to live. Otherwise I dont think theres much place for you where you get a say so on that.
