Around the League 2020 Edition

In a surprising move, IMO, the White Sox and manager Renteria have agreed to "part ways".

For now, you have the Red Sox and White Sox looking for a new manager. I have a feeling that this will finally be the offseason that we lose Ron Washington. And I hate it because I love the guy.

Agree with all that this past summer has seen the passing of a slew of all-time baseball greats. Mind-boggling.

Joe Morgan was probably the most important gear in the Big Red Machine, but people forget that he got his start with the Houston Colt .45s (they became the Astros in 1965). I still have his beat-up rookie card from 1965 (which also featured former Brave Sonny Jackson).

As much as I hated the Big Red Machine, I always loved Joe Morgan. The guy played with energy and he had an unbelievably high baseball IQ on the field. He was one of the first second basemen I remember who was an all-around offensive threat. So many second basemen of that era were defense-first, put-the-ball-in-play kind of guys. Morgan blew up that mold.

For younger fans, Joe played a key role in vaulting the Braves into the 1982 playoffs when as a member of the Giants, he hit a key 3-run homer on the last day of the season against the Dodgers that provided the Braves with the one-game edge in the NL West standings.

I suspect Cora is at the top of the White Sox list.

I dunno... you think Wash wants to get back into a full time managers gig or continue to be the best assistant coach in the business. He seems to really enjoy what he's doing now.

It's weird that Swanson still looks like he's in college, and Bregman looks like he's a middle-aged middle-manager at a paper company.

If you are white and religious Louisiana is a great place for you. Otherwise I would advise avoiding it like the plague. I say this not as a black person who has been victim of it but as the white guy who knows what people there say when the black people arent in the room.

The legal system is a nightmare. Only need 10 out of 12 jurors to convict on felony charges. Police can "arrest" you because they feel like it and hold you for up to a week in a cell with no bed and no toilet for up to a week without seeing a judge. Not sure if they still do this because in the Obama era they agreed it was illegal and pinky promised they wouldnt do it again. But Jeff Sessions sent a memo telling law enforcement to ignore the consent decrees. Wo who knows.

Rays are a beast of a team

I would have liked to of seen Arozarena not stumble there and a clean catch by Smith. Could of been a Sid moment.

I just love their balance throughout the line-up. There's not what I would call a headliner on their offensive side of things, but they are ye olde tough out 1-9.
