The Coronavirus, not the beer

Its a fairly simple answer. Masks, social distancing, and not shaking hands drastically reduces the chances to pass the flu. Its why a lot of people in Japan wore masks in public before the Trump virus.

That would indicate that covid is like 1,000,000X more transmissible than the flu

For the first time since March or April, the five European countries as a group (and their population is slightly higher than ours) had more deaths this past week. Its going to be bad for them the next few weeks.

Your restraint to calling them chuckleheads is admirable

"We are entering the most concerning and most deadly phase of this pandemic . . . leading to increasing mortality," said the Monday report from Deborah Birx, coordinator of the White House coronavirus task force. "This is not about lockdowns - It hasn't been about lockdowns since March or April. It's about an aggressive balanced approach that is not being implemented."

I hate to see this. I lived in the Netherlands for a few fears and love to go back to visit.

There is this perception that because Europe is super progressive they are similar to US liberals, but that’s not my experience. The stubbornness and individualism that fuels anti-mask behavior in the US is rampant in Europe as well. I wouldn’t blanket assume that Europeans follow these mask mandates as strictly as intended (and to be honest - I don’t think Democrats take mask mandates as seriously they think they are).

No, I have no opinion on how a local area is dealing with schooling in their area on this topic
