The Biden Presidency

they could go solid and boring

or they could go crazy

hopefully it is the first

solid and boring won't whip trump's core, rabid, dumb base up enough.
they've thrived on "owning the libs" and coddling an insecure, creepy criminal. i think too many of them are too attached to that kind of thing.

Solid and boring with no chance of winning:
- Ted Cruz
- Marco Rubio
- Mike Lee
- Cotton maybe

Trump Jr. absolutely runs. His viability will be determined by Biden's performance. It's hard to go back to crazy if stability treats you well (a rule of thumb many divorcees have shared).

John James will be groomed for the nomination, but he needs to govern first, so 2028 is more likely for him. Although, Buttigieg went quite far without any experience and James is eminently more likable that Mayor Pete, so still plausible.

But odds end favorite is Pence. He will carry the Trump vote and he's an actual adult who will attract moderates. Pair him with James as a VP choice and that's a pretty decent ticket for 2024.

Pence with Don Jr as his running mate.

i thought it was a mistake at the time and i feel that way today as well.
i personally would've liked to see Duckworth get more consideration.

I think she would have been great to combat Trumps narrative. Theres also a Democrat from WV Richard Ojeda who is a veteran who I think would have been a really great choice. I think he could have connected well with some Trump voters without turning off any Democrats. He is a veteran and voted for Trump in 2016 for much of the same reason a lot of people did. He would have crushed the debates.

putting a trump on a ticket again lol

As the head of the ticket I dont think it would turn out well. As a VP to an actual real politician I think it would be a smart idea for them. The positives would outweight the negatives imo. It would certainly be more influential in the campaign than most VP candidates.

I could see the Republican nomination being decided by which candidate would commit to selecting him as the VP.

Really hope we are done with the Trump family though. This seems like a bad movie sequel.

Without Covid 19 does Biden win? Truthful answers only.

Not sure I would have said no until i saw how close it was. Coming off BO presidency I'd have thought Biden was an absolute shoe in especially over someone as divisive as Trump was made to be.

IDK but his race weakened him for me as a candidate.

lmao at Pence/trump jr...
Pence has the personality of a table leg that you stub your toe on.
don jr is just like his dad, and just as corrupt.
hopefully those asset seizures happen.

Think Pence will be too tainted by Trump and his views too ridiculed by the culture that is moving in the opposite direction.

The also rans -- Trump pretty much destroyed them. Will be hard for any one of them to rise from the ashes.

Senators Cotton, Hawley, and Sasse might have the mental chops but they don't have the administrative experience and frankly, they are white guys.

The Rs will no doubt be looking for smart, stable, younger, female candidates if possible. And getting further into identity politics (hard not to these days), they'd do very well to really work harder with Latinos and Hispanics and Asian-Americans and African-Americans.

They also have to think regionally -- either fight hard to get back the likes of CO, AZ, and NV or really push for a populist aim at the Rust Belt.

i also don't think this is going to end up as close as it looks right now. PA is going to safely be dem, and flipping AZ and possibly GA is no small feat. obviously a huge swing and miss with Cubans in FL, but otherwise, no big state disappointment (and Florida isn't really disappointing to lose, just to lose by THAT much).

expecting Obama-level margins is kind of silly. but i think Biden will get up over 300 EVs.

Biden was a guaranteed lose against Trump before Covid imo similar to Romney in 2012. People dont give a **** as long as the economy is good and Trump did an A+ job of marketing himself as economic jesus.

it's pretty obvious that all trump had to do was be halfway competent on covid, not repeatedly downplay and lie about it, and he probably cruises to reelection.
at the same time, it's physically impossible for him not to lie. it's impossible for him to look beyond the immediate future of the economy and the stock market.
leaders who didn't even do a great job but weren't complete and utter embarrassments with their rhetoric and complete inaction on covid saw huge approval ratings gains.
asking trump to be halfway competent and tell the truth is an impossibility for someone of his character. he can't do it. he was always going to fail miserably.

Haley is another possibility.

(of course, it's ****ing insane that trump is not currently toxic, just by virtue of who and what he is)

Haley is another possibility.

Haley and Noem.

Haley was smart to get out of the administration but has she put enough distance (if any) between her and him?

Pay close attention to what comes out from those two ladies over the next couple of months.

yeah, i think it depends on just how much of trump's corruption gets put out there, and what happens to him because of it.
i think and hope we're going to see a lot of it.
then again he straight up held aid hostage to help himself politically and it was all gravy to the right, so who knows.
