The Coronavirus, not the beer

I was at BB kings in memphis when Justin just popped in one night. He took the stage and sang Tennessee whiskey.

Actually, I'm lying. I was there the previous weekend where no one famous was there, but had a great time. Missed it by one weekend haha

how were the ribs

Go to central bbq or rendezvous, not bb kings. I frequent memphis often. Bb kings has a sandwich called the pig though that's pretty good. Usually just drink a beer and listen to local music there.

Last time I was there I went to central.

I love central.

I visit Nola, memphis, Atlanta, and Biloxi, ms, probably 5 times a year each. All are driving distance, and my wife and I love to go. We wanted to go to Macy's thanksgiving parade this year, but damn covid. We were booking Denver the other night, and saw they're about to clamp down again. We only feel safe booking a trip to Florida next month with covid cranking up.

For my money Nawlins is the best food city in the country. But I have a soft spot for Memphis. The people, food and music.

Go to the keys if you go to Florida. Try the conch chowder.

imo

don't

Nola and NYC are the 2 best cities in the divided states of america

i might should give it another visit one day

but totally didn't like the keys

but was a weird spot when i went i guess

Keys are ok. Not Key West but the other lesser populated.

I'm an Old Florida guy myself... Love the stories of people running weed and all into all those different rivers. The obscure panhandle places are the best.

I've heard San Fran should be in that list, but I've never been

OK. I've experienced the dining scene in both and have given it some thought. Here goes. If you are on an expense account, NY beats San Francisco. At the high end, NY has the edge both in terms of variety and peak experience.

If you are on a budget and are willing to do some research and to go out of the touristy areas, then San Francisco is better. Especially for Mexican and other Latin. You are much more likely to get lucky stumbling into a hole in the wall place in San Francisco, partly because of the proximity to the central valley and all the fresh produce that comes out of there. That's one of the things I noticed when I moved there, the freshness of the ingredients compared to the East Coast.

In terms of beauty and scenery, nothing beats Northern California.

Chicago has the best restaurant and bar scene in this country. Best combination of variety, affordability (even at the high-end), ingenuity, and quality.

San Francisco is great, too, but in my experience much more expensive (at both the high and middle ranges)—and the breweries are better in Chicago. Both beat New York.

Among smaller cities I've spent time in, Portland, Maine is amazing. Bonus: some great civil war statues celebrating the good guys.

In terms of much smaller cities, Flagstaff has a really nice scene.
