Um, dueling was quite illegal then. It was done but rarely resulted in death. Jackson could have been hanged.

He was not convicted but Trump isn't either. Jackson certainly could have been convicted. He's far from the only president with a shady past.

The presidency has had so many extremes that what we see today is often tame by comparison.

I still say that felonious is a shade or two past "shady". Trump is still the only POTUS I know of who has been been de facto convicted of a felony while in office.

Do you think that dueling then was seen about as immoral as infidelity is today, though infidelity isn't illegal. But comparing Trump to Jackson sort of proves my point.

Now that the right has moved more center on most social issues, right leaning policies will appeal to a lot of people. Where the right is still to beholden to the religious right, is probably offset by the social justice extremism on the left.

Anyone that’s under any impression that we are moving towards a 1 party political system doesn’t understand how politicians work.

What's interesting about Jackson is that people who were around that thought Jackson was a murderer for it. Jackson's pistol misfired at which point the duel should have been over. However, Jackson cocked it and pulled the trigger again. It fired killing his opponent. It was a breach of the rules of dueling as they were. Dude was a straight up murderer.

Again, considering the history of the office it's hard to make statement's about Trump being the most corrupt or most criminal. Nixon would have gone to jail absent the pardon, lest we forget.

I have no problem criticizing Trump or calling him a criminal. I just like to keep the view of him in context of the history of the office.

Even if there was fraud (I assume a small insignificant amount occurred - probably on both sides), these buffoons will not be capable of exposing it. These lawsuits are DOA.
