Georgia Senate Runoff

My point is this, 57 likes to throw around cute memes bashing Republicans while ignoring bad conduct of democrats or accusing people who point it out of being MAGA boys. What 57 would never tell you is that Dianne Feinstein was subject to the same stock trading investigation as Loeffler based on Feinstein's husband selling off stock at the same time Loeffler did.

I will just sit back and continue to point out that anyone capable of getting themselves elected to a high office is probably someone that should never be allowed to hold it.

I don't want to tell you how to post. But I will.

If you want to say 57's post about Loeffler is misleading (and it is) and want to point out that Feinstein was in a similar situation (which she was), maybe you should just point those things out and leave it at that.

No need to post misleading things about Warnock. We have plenty of other posters around here who will fill that void.

these are all things that happened. Documented
Often things just are what they are
//////

and the investigation was halted by Wm Barr
These are facts

and dont understand one iota how any of this could be construed " misleading "
if someone wants to attach Feinstein go ahead, but, I dont know what for or why

i don't think she did any of those things...someone who manages her finances did them...that's kind of an important thing to keep in mind

ditto for Feinstein (who i believe has put her assets in a blind trust)

FWIW

For a moderate heavily invested in a Dem executive branch and Republican congress, I wouldn't shed a single tear if Loeffler is beat by Warnock.

so it makes it alright she put people in charge of her finances ( her husband if not mistaken) that made her take a profit from the outbreak.
Coincidence this person overseeing her monies was privy to classified information -- which is textbook insider trading
Willing to be convinced otherwise

Ask Martha Stewart

its kind of a big deal because control of the senate is at stake so people (including myself) will view the race mainly through that lens...but Loeffler strikes me as the weakest (in terms of qualifications and life experiences) of the four candidates.

it's her husband's money...he's the reason she is rich

controlling spouses financial activities is a tricky thing...my boss once yelled at me because my wife sold a stock without going through compliance...fond memories

has Warnock been "charged" with anything in a legal sense

I know you are a lawyer and take care with words...when you used the word charged I took it a bit differently coming from you than I would from another poster

in reading this abuse case you were kind enough to link, it seems to me his concern was making sure his camp counselors had legal representation or understood their legal rights in a situation where doing an interview with the police might have put them in legal jeopardy...my son works as a camp counselor during the summer...if police came to investigate something, I would hope his employer would help him understand his legal rights in that kind of situation

i would not have described that as him being charged with an obstruction into an abuse investigation...but maybe you posted with an intent to balance out another poster

we've seen a lot of obstruction from a certain politician in very high office the past four years...so i find it interesting to see the contrast in how some posters reacted to that and are now reacting to Warnock's so-called obstruction (in 2002!)

Didn't the news article describe him as charged? Twice?

https://www.baltimoresun.com/news/b...0184-story,amp.html?__twitter_impression=true

Two Baltimore ministers have been charged with obstructing a police investigation into suspected child abuse at a church-run camp in Carroll County.

The Revs. Raphael Gamalial Warnock, 33, and Mark Andre Wainwright, 30, of Douglas Memorial Community Church are accused in court documents of trying to prevent a state trooper from interviewing counselors at the church's Camp Farthest Out in Eldersburg.
...
"I've never encountered resistance like that at all," said Trooper Diane Barry of the state police Child and Sexual Assault Unit in Westminster. Barry said the counselors consented to the interviews after being told they were free to go at any time and were not obligated to answer her questions.

After being arrested and charged, the two men were released on their own recognizance to await trial, scheduled for Oct. 30.

so what happened at the trial? or were the charges dropped?

The idea that Loeffler is less qualified than Warnock is...an interesting take, I guess. One has a rather high level of knowledge and experience in international economics and has ran a company. And a couple of years experience in the Senate now. The other has pastored large churches and been a community organizer. Respectable, and running a megachurch is certainly akin to running a business. To call him more qualified and experienced than Loeffler is creative, and I'm not a Loeffler fan.

I wasn't able to find out about the charges. That's why I said charged instead of convicted. There are any number of ways this could have been resolved without ever going to trial.

I'll say this, I'm generally against punishing people for mere accusations. I didn't like it with Kavanaugh, I don't like it now. All we have against Warnock are allegations. Same with Loeffler. I'm not a fan of punishing either of them for allegations.

Warnock claims he never ran over his wife's foot, Loeffler claims her assets were in a blind trust. I'll just do what I normally do with politicians and that's assume they're both purely self-interested and not great human beings.

Coincidence that blind trust knew when to sell.
To profit off of a pandemic.
......

As if just fell off the truck

Profiteering off of a natural health disaster as deplorable as it is --- is not in and of itself a crime.
Using inside knowledge as to when to cash is is another story.
Loeffler and crew check both the legal and moral box.

And it is on record

I agree with this. I assume any rich politician is a crooked politician, with a very few exceptions. Stuff like this doesn't make me less cynical on the subject.
