One more for ya Jaw.

Hypothetically, with a 50-50 senate, couldn't ANY democrat make a power play here? And say "unless you vote for me as majority leader, I'll vote for Cocaine Mitch"?

I know of course nobody would but just seems like the leverage is there to take it way from Shumer. I admittedly don't know much about the process though

Bumping in case it gets lost on previous page

50-50 Senate means policy gets made largely within the 40 yard lines...folks like Manchin, Tester, Collins, Murkowski and Romney are going to determine how productive Congress is the next couple years

I at least hope goldy and super are having an epic senate election party orgy full of great bliss. They've earned it

Indeed... Biden has one of the narrowest party majority ever. He shouldn't be able to get anything too radical done... and the map looks like both houses will flip in 2022

If they are gonna try it they better shoot their shot now. But that will have election consequences

for the most part

the one trick the Dems have available with tonight's results will be the ability to use the reconciliation process for tax and spending law...but even there they'll need 50 votes...Manchin or Tester could veto certain things such as restoring the SALT deductions and I hope they will

A lot can happen by 2022.

If dems can get stimulus and weed passed, and with Donald on the sidelines with a megaphone playing kingmaker, it's gonna be interesting.

Donald is already threatening to support primaries against many of the senators up for re-election.

Even if they cant get much policy passed they do get control of Senate comittes which means Republicans cant use it to do partisan "investigations" of election fraud and Biden. Now after 4 years of blocking any and every attempt to investigate Trumps corruption Republicans are going to throw pity parties because Democrats wont let Republicans do their partisan shenanigans.

I also hope Schumer starts ramming judges like McConnell did.

Dems should give it back to Mitch.

Well you have to have openings. Trump only had so many chances because they spent 6 years blocking anyone Obama nominated.

Biden is probably the least liberal member of his party in Washington. You have to give him props. He went against everyone in his party and still won.

I wouldnt be surprised to see Manchin flip.

i know it's just phonetic

but shouldn't we be referring to femail-in votes or better yet femme fatale votes

on that note i'm gonna call it a night
