Clever of them. Pax Brittanica probably set China back a couple of centuries by pumping illegal drugs into their country. China wants to harsh Pax Americana's mellow the same way.

Thats exactly what this is. They are trafficking Fentanyl and Meth because of how dangerous that **** is.

Do you know anything of Obama's pivot to Asia? The Bush administration people were mad Obama admin said they were soft on China. If you want to say Trump took a tougher stance thats fine but I think that was all about trying to bully China into a trade deal he could market for his re-election campaign. Virtually nothing candidate Trump said about China actually happened in the Trump administration. US goods to China have fallen every year since 2017. Manufacturing jobs have not returned. Most of China's nefarious trade and cyber activities have continued and even expanded. His "phase one" trade deal did little more than lift the tariffs he put in place in exchange for a promise to buy 200 billion worth of American goods that wont likely be fulfilled. And little to nothing has been done to slow down China's military expansion.

I agree with you that much more needs to be done. I think the lack of a response to their building and then militarizing of artificial islands went a long way to emboldening them.

And all western countries destroying their own economies and liberty from a virus that escaped from China. Also, we're too scared to ask any questions about its origin. That would be racist!

Oh let's not forget that we tear ourselves apart over imaginary human right injustices while they enhance their concentration camps.

Yeah I'd say they feel pretty emboldened at this point

if we melt the polar ice caps faster those islands will go away

What realistically can we even do. The more we push them away the more we increase the risk of a real war in the future which simply cant happen between nuclear powers. With our economies coupled with theirs we do manage some significant ability to influence them. Trump via Executive Order recently ordered the delisting of Chinese companies that have links to China's military which I think is a good step. I think something needs to be done about all the Chinese nationals in the country. On one hand I know its good that we have some Chinese youth here bringing back some American ideas to China but thats all just used to disguise spies for China. Another catch 22 in regards to China. I think the best bet may be to hope for an opportunity when Xi Jiping dies. I imagine there will a power struggle after he is gone.

I agree that the hysteria over police killing of black people is overblown and actually leads to more deaths by black people but we do have a serious human rights problem in this country. Most of which I would assume you agree with.

I actually don't think we have to do much. China has managed to alienate pretty much every country it has extensive dealings with. They are happy to have us as counterweight. Japan, Korea, Australia, India, Vietnam. The alliance writes itself. And the goal is basically to limit Chinese influence.

Massive power outtage overnight in Pakistan and then the Vatican. Not sure whats going on but conspiracy theorists are loving it.

Potentially a very consequential step. I'm not opposed in principle. But wonder if this appropriate in the waning days of an administration.

Myanmar's Military staged a coup. Not looking good.

visited there once for a little while when the army was in charge

was crazy. they took my passport and held it at the border. i had no "real" identification and military kept track of everywhere you went etc

sure, sure.

after Lebron's comments were posted about people should not speak about issues that they don't know about (China concentration camps)... your replies consisted of...

LeBron James is a professional athlete. Why in the world does anyone give weight to his take on issues about which he has no particular knowledge or insight.

like the other big businesses who have chosen to go into China they are big boys who understood what they were getting into

Nothing on his insane hypocrisy as he pushes his radical social justice campaigns in the US... nothing on how he's unable to call out literal concentration camps.

I believe I was told by people like you that silence is violence. It's not enough to not be for concentration camps... you must be actively anti-concentration camps.

But your hatred of Trump has turned you into elevating imaginary issues here while excusing or averting your gaze to actual human rights issues from your marxist overlords

is what it is. feel free to throw another dictionary word at me
