The Coronavirus, not the beer

i choose not to place a bet where you would be even more actively rooting for death as youve done all year.

sounds like an excuse of someone who is afraid of being wrong...it's just a discussion board bet dude...don't be such a pansy

From the guy who doesn't want to make a bet on cases, despite saying we will see a surge in March?

I don't want to bet on people dying... not my thing. I'm confidence Florida will continue to whip NY's ass in performance in the aggregate. Feel free to cheryy pick your data to make your tyrants look better.

But the data are the data, as they say.

Maybe the 2021 data will catch them up...

I know several posters who are rooting for more death there

What's your take these days on herd immunity?

I think we could have achieved where we are much sooner if we made the right risk based decisions.

Unfortunately we got to this slow crawl with unecessary deaths.

The virus will be here for a long time but a larger percentage now are very mild cases.

There is a piece in the WSJ by a professor at Johns Hopkins Medical School that claims we may be approaching herd immunity now.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/well-have-herd-immunity-by-april-11613669731

But herd immunity is the inevitable result of viral spread and vaccination. When the chain of virus transmission has been broken in multiple places, it’s harder for it to spread—and that includes the new strains.

Lockdowns slowed this process down. Not being forthright about who is at risk slowed this process down.

I will always feel we could have achieved here immunity in 6 months had we made risk based decisions and let the virus run its course. No masks. No lockdowns. Just tell those at risk to be smart and make the right decisions for themselves. In our advanced society those at risk can still get everything they need. Let us healthy guinea pigs do they dirty work to get rid of the virus.

There would have been no economic meltdown. 5 million more Americans would still be working. My boy would still be president (selfish me).

We would be in a much better spot right now.

Can we also be honest for a second about the reasons cases are dropping at such a rate? Mathematically it makes no sense that once a certain portion of the population is sick that cases would drop so steeply. It’s a mix of herd immunity, guidance on what is a true positive test as well as reduced testing.

Someone once said one day COVID would disappear. Those that read past media narratives, and I believe you nsacpi are one of those despite your insistence on pushing them, knew we would be here fast.

The word fast is doing a lot of work there...as I recall fast once meant last summer

And that still stands. No reason to react like we did as a nation when we knew the rage based stratification of who was at risk.

And of course HCQ And vitamin D were talked about very early but big pharma shut that down

Update: sister says my mom is super tired and seems a little off and barely eating the past few days

Hoping it’s the last stage of dealing with it and hasn’t taken a turn
