117th Congress

i try not to make assumptions about people...which is why your accusation that i was engaging in homophobia in another thread is incorrect...it was incorrect for various reasons...one of them being i wasn't assuming anything about your gender

You dont have to assume. I confirm I am a man, as I have a penis and was born with XY chromosomes.

MTG is a joke. No doubt about that. But let's not descend into calling something like this "workplace harassment". I can't even imagine the can of worms that would be opened up by starting to classify every petty, stupid, or ideological thing a congressperson does as "harassment."

But I bet she feels unsafe!!

i'll take you at your word...there is just this vibe of deeply rooted insecurity that emanates from you...but i may be mistaken

I find arguments over sex vs gender identity are so stupid. Some are caused by confusion of definition. Biological sex vs the idea of gender. However, most are just people insisting other people conform to their desires. Some who want to make biological sex and gender equivalent insist others conform to that belief and so biological males should engage in traditional masculine stereotypes. Conversely, there are those who want gender to be whatever a person wants it to be and who insist others accommodate (e.g. use chosen pronouns).

As with many things I fall into the do whatever you want and mind your own business camp. If you want to put on a dress and live as a woman, knock yourself out. If you want to decide what you identify as by the day, go ahead. It doesn't hurt me at all. If you want to believe that there's only two genders and they match biological sex, that's your prerogative.

Where I bristle is when you start demanding others conform to you. Don't demand others wear the clothing you want them to wear. Don't treat people as less than human because of gender identity. Don't demand others use the pronouns you want. Requiring compliance from other does infringe upon their rights. Just let others do their thing.

Siri, show me the most useless thing ever:

So much unity being attempted. I can’t imagine why Biden can’t get some on board and why he busts goes ahead without them. Seem like such a rational group

That doesnt change my question.

Is a trans man, a man?

Yes, but that's not what Greene is saying. When you say you're disgusted by an act that attempts to protect transgendered and queer folk as an "attack on women and religion" do the math.

Stop defending this clown.

So if a trans man is a man, and I presume you think a trans woman is a woman...

Well I'm counting two genders here

The Senate parliamentarian ruled against including a minimum wage hike in the reconciliation process deeming it not budget related.

The Senate parliamentarian is an interesting job. They can be super powerful but no one knows about them. They also tend to work as they should, ensuring the rules are respected rather than towing the party line.

I had no idea that person existed. Neither side seems to care much about following parliamentary rules from what I have seen.

looks the the "for the people act" is going to get voted on next week. This is exactly what the Democrats should have done in 2008. They absolutely need to give zero ****s about Republicans belly aching and cries about "but but but he is doing something we dont like, thats not unity!" BS. Pass it. Shame the Republicans for not wanting people to exercise their constitutional right to vote when they cry about it. I am already looking forward to some thethe tears about a bill that not only ensures that paper ballots are used which can be audited but ensures that all voting machines are made in the US. Because the last thing he wants are real audits. He much rather have something to cry about.

Senate Republicans havent represented the majority of Americans in the Senate since.......1996. 24 years ago. Democrats currently representing almost 60% of the nation while at a 50/50 tie. I think one things clear, Republicans are clearly the minority party in this country.

It's almost as if our government was designed to be slow moving and require broad support to get things done.
