The Coronavirus, not the beer

About time some red states bail out some blue states

Been living off the govt feet they claim to hate for too long

Among the big states, Florida and Texas are the state governments that have suffered the largest drops in revenues. But if they want to turn down federal assistance, good for them.

Changes in state tax revenues in the pandemic period (April-December 2020) compared with same months in 2019:

California: +1.2%
Texas: -10.4
Florida: -11.3
NY: -4.1
Pennsylvania: -3.1
Illinois: -2.0
Ohio: -0.9
NC: +2.1
Georgia: +1.9
Michigan: +0.3

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/01/business/covid-state-tax-revenue.html

The states that got hammered were the ones with big fossil fuels sectors (TX, ND, AK, OK), big tourism sectors (NV, HI, FL), and a high reliance on sales taxes.

CNN pundit suggest the lesson from COVID might be that we
should mask up and social distance ourselves every winter
so fewer people get the flu:

I havent had so much as a cold since November 2019
and considering maintaining Covid behaviors
Always wondered why so many Asians walked around
everyday life wearing masks.

That “CNN pundit” is Dr. Paul Offit, a widely-respected pediatrician
specializing in infectious diseases, vaccines, immunology, and virology
who just happens to be co-inventor of a rotavirus vaccine.

If you disagree, fine, but let’s frame these discussions honestly.

**** you and anyone else that think we should continue to wear masks. Let the scared people act accordingly.

Absolute ****ing idiots.

You know what. I hope the blue states keep wearing masks and destroying their businesses.

I’m thinking of moving to the Cobb county area anyway as will many others. Hopefully I’ll be able to capitalize on the 100% appreciation on my home value and buy a sick place in Georgia.

I would suggest Bartow or Cherokee instead, if you're dead set on the Atlanta metro. Cobb has almost finished it's transition to blue. I'm considering ditching the entire state for eastern Tennessee or NW SC.

The Mrs is a professional makeup artists and film is a big industry there. I can work from anywhere but we would just need to be close to Atlanta.

I’ll look into those areas.

This is the type of stupidity we are up against

Let the idiots wear their masks.

The rest of us will live like normal people. Our next generations will thrive while theirs will live in fear.

It is amazing how many people think removing the mandate means they are banning masks.

These idiots cannot think without the government telling them what to do. its mind boggling

If anyone is interested in what critical thinking looks like, read this twitter thread, about how the data simply never aligned with hypothesis, and thus minds were changed.

Very healthy

It’s extremely reminiscent of the decades of climate alarmist articles written that said we would be under water by now.

These prognosticators think they are way smarter than they are.

The problem is it is impossible to prove them wrong in the moment... "if we don't act now, we will all be dead in 2030" is a powerful argument to idiots. And, they are "experts" after all.

Funny though that "acting" always requires giving up liberty and more power to the government.

Every time

Big mad

About a mask

Perfect example of fake outrage of non existent oppression

The left is the party of anti science.

Their politics is their religion and they follow it blindly

That was before his EO and the lockdown of the state for months longer than it needed to be.

Difference between me and you is that I learn each day and adapt. You were praising Cuomo when it was clear the nursing home numbers were fake.
