This kind of thing just comes from a place that has no true understanding of mental illness. When I get a glimpse of how badly disconnected some of us are from others (usually when I have intimate knowledge of a subject being discussed, not just info), I wonder how far things like that go for all of us. Would explain so much. I have no doubt I have a similar disconnect with people who are wealthy and have never had to struggle financially or with mental illness. I'm lucky enough now that at least I can afford to eat healthy and take medication. This is not true for so many.
These are anecdotes when compared to the population. It isn’t helpful to make excuses for the rest.
It isn't. I live in WV. The majority of people I know are in similar situations. WV obesity numbers? #1 in the nation last time I looked. Most of the people who don't have to deal with these issues aren't obese. I wonder why that is? Maybe there is something to these "excuses" that don't fit your prejudices.
The majority of the people you know is the definition of an anecdote
This is the kind of thing that really shows how out of touch with poverty some people are. I am certainly not talking about fast food when I am talking about unhealthy and cheaper, and there is a reason this is not a legitimate option for poor people if you take a minute to think it through. I did a webinar for work recently where the guy was talking about the disconnect between even the middle class and poverty, and about time horizon. Some people don't have the luxury to think ahead. You should take a look at time horizons in this regard. Really interesting.
The evidence supports my reasons FAR more than laziness and selfishness. You're just a bitter prick.
I didn’t realize you were in poverty my dude.
This was just directed at you specifically

I'm not anymore. But I left home at 13, so it was pretty much impossible to avoid for the longest time. I'm still nowhere near the middle class, but I'm not in poverty.
Wooo.. got it all figured out.
A person is my own household suffers from crippling depression an anxiety. I have dealt with very very serious aspects of this firsthand and for years.
This isn’t the majority of the population and to act like it is... well... is ignorant
Once again- people portray the very very few cases of legit issues onto the roughly 40% of the population that has obesity issues.
It isn’t the majority.
Or someone that has said this for months and now studies are showing it’s the case.
Fat people, aside from the majority of people that Dalyn knows, are lazy and selfish.
Make you happy you victim mentality whore?
All anecdotes to pretend like they are morally superior.

It isn’t the majority.
For people that don’t get what is being said -
There is an extremely low percentage of people that have real reasons they have weight issues.
There are probably a small percentage of those people that could still do better and work toward not having them.
We have the highest obesity rate in the world and it’s not close.
The difference in those % CAN do something about it and usually choose not to.
No one is talking about people with depression but exercise and healthy food can and does help with that as well.
No one is talking about the fraction of a % point of people that have Prader- Willi syndrome.
Y’all act like this is all the norm. It is not
What studies? And who said a thing about being a victim? Some people are just thoughtful enough to understand that there is more to any issue than black and white. That isn't a victim mentality. That's being able to reason and empathize. I disagreed with you about most things before you disappeared, but I still thought you were a decent human being. Since your return, you've just seemed bitter, angry, and ****ing willfully obtuse. Learn how to broaden your understanding of an issue without having to scapegoat a whole class of people to cover for your ignorance.
Morally superior? What a ****ing laugh. Cause we are the ones going around calling people lazy and selfish, and just generally acting as though everyone else in the world is beneath you.
