Additionally, both of those numbers are inflated relative to their population size because of the nursing home deaths. Those four states' populations only make up 15% of the US population.

Their deaths are 40% higher than their proportion of the population.

OK so according sources GOP house members called out PA, NJ, NY, CA, and MI. Here's their percentage of COVID deaths from nursing homes.

PA - 52%
NJ - 34%
NY - 37%
MI - 31
CA - 24%

All but PA are around or well below the national average.

Florida has the same percentage as NJ and their governor isn't a mass murderer?

What about Indiana with almost 50%

Again, why harp on NJ and NJ but ignore states doing as bad or worse?

Which state has the highest elderly population as a percentage of their own?
Comparing rate stats is fun I guess so you can avoid having to rationalize the states with the highest raw death totals.

I considered 2 things, 1 on a percapita and one as a percentage. NY and NJ don't look especially bad on either list. Very republican Indiana looks bad on both list. PA looks bad on both lists. But again for some reason, they keep talking about NY and NJ. It's almost like again, the goal of the GOP is to bring down prominent Dem governors not talk about the root of the problem.

NJ's covid deaths per 100 residents is basically identical to FLorida. But DeSantis isn't called a mass murderer.

I wasn't mad at people for going to a park. I was mad at people for being obstinate and violating the law.

They didn't order positive patients into homes. They said you couldn't deny them simply because of a positive entry. Aka if a doctor thought it was OK to send them back they did.

As far as why defend it because we need to look into the why. Why are you jumping on Murphy and Cuomo for early pandemic mistakes but not jumping on DeSantis for easing restrictions when people can be most infectious before showing symptoms.

I’ve been doing this part a few weeks.

When I walk in south Ga businesses with a mask, I might as well be an alien.

Not THAT kinda ALIEN, but like a little green man. But not a leprechaun.

They have been over this thing since the fall.

I was down there to pick up a new pet last Summer and had the same experience. Had a mask on at the gas pump and didn't see anyone else wearing one as they went in and out of the station, the lady I bought the pet from didn't wear one, etc. But Albany area also got crushed with positive cases.

I actually see more people driving alone in their car with masks on than i see sitting in businesses.

Very odd to say the least.
 
Yeah I don't get that. I pretty much only wear one while the Kroger curbside staff load the groceries in the back of the minivan, but that's the only public place I go to. Got the first shot last night so it won't be an issue for long anyway.
