New Names Coming For Fox Sports South And Southeast

My friend sent me a link showing the Bally app is launching on 3/31 and it will stream games but you have to have a streaming service with access to watch tv.

Great info, but that doesn't appear to be the Bally's stand-alone app - whichever streaming or cable service has to have FSSO or FSSE for that to help.

As of now Bally's/Sinclair hasn't yet reached any agreement with YTTV/Hulu/etc., so you still have to get your TV from a cable or streaming system that has an agreement with them for the rebranded app to do you any good.

A lot of people use the fire stick and Roku though. That helps at least!

I use Fire Sticks on all 5 TVs - read the article a little closer...

"Atlanta Braves games on Bally Sports South and Bally Sports Southeast will be widely available throughout Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee and Central and Western North Carolina on cable, satellite and over-the-top providers, including AT&T U-verse, AT&T TV, DirecTV, Spectrum and Xfinity. The network’s schedule is attached to the email (subject to change) with local channel listings listed here.

All Braves programming will stream live on the all-new Bally Sports app and on ballysports.com when a consumer authenticates through their pay-tv service. Both the app and website will launch in coordination with the network rebrand on March 31, 2021. The Bally Sports app will be available on mobile and tablet devices, including iOS and Android, as well as connected devices including, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, PlayStation, Roku Players and Roku TV, Samsung and LG platforms and Xbox One. The FOX Sports GO app will update to the all-new Bally Sports app upon the rebrand.
"

They don't mention the stand-alone app - only that you can authenticate through your pay-TV service. This means you have to log on just like before. You go to the FoxSports/Bally app and it gives you a host of providers that you stream or receive your cable service from to provide your log in info for. If you don't get your TV from one of AT&T U-verse, AT&T TV, DirecTV, Spectrum, or Xfinity it won't recognize you and you can't stream.

Maybe, just MAYBE it will be offered to Prime members as an app (like HBOMax, etc.) separately, but the article doesn't mention that in any detail - there is no Bally's app to download on your Fire Stick as of today, so apparently we won't know if that's an option until the 31st. At that point it will likely be too late for you to see games on Opening Day (and probably several more days) if you have to switch back to cable.

It says Bally’s new app in the article or at Bally’s website. Meant to reply with quote to CLV

You can get MLB.tv as a stand alone Fire Stick app - there's no Bally's app in the app store as of today.

When you click on that link for ballysports.com, you're prompted to give a Username and Password - that doesn't take you to a website.

Here's a better explanation from The Detroit News...

"From the viewer's perspective, little will change with FSD becoming Bally Sports Detroit. The channel number will remain the same, depending on your cable provider, and viewers who stream on Fox Sports Go soon will be able to stream on the Bally Sports app. Like with the Fox Sports Go app, that requires cable-account verification."

This is the replacement for the Fox Go app, just to get them off the Fox Platform. It is NOT the stand-alone streaming service that has the built-in interactivity and gambling. I've heard April 2021 AND 2022 from engineers who worked in the latter app. I'm not holding my breath any more.

Yeppp. That’s how I took it. You will need a service provider login to use in the Bally’s app.

Which is exactly the way it is now with fox sports go. Literally nothing is changing function wise. It’s a name and app change but you still have to login with a service provider to watch.

Right - as of now, YTTV and Hulu subscribers are still out in the cold.

As John mentioned, I'm not holding my breath and have lost confidence that Bally's is going to work out an agreement with YTTV before Opening Day. Since I live in the hills of NC and don't want to go to cable, I jumped ship to AT&T TV last night - I'm not going to miss several games if the stand alone app isn't an option in time.

So are dish network subscribers. That’s the one advantage to being out of market- I just buy the Braves only sub on mlbtv.

Would have loved to keep YTTV and buy the Braves out of market package - unfortunately 4 hours away from the park isn't far enough for MLB. They must think I'm a candidate for a season ticket purchase.

I am now told that existing contracts may delay the launch of the stand-alone, direct-to-consumer Bally app until January of next year, which would explain all the contradictory information.

Are you in the Charlotte area? I’m at Ft Bragg

I am! Only cheap option here is **** spectrum aside from satellite.

Yea. I get the spectrum streaming only service during hockey season to watch the Hurricanes on FSC. Hoping Bally’s will renegotiate with Dish at some point. Don’t want to go back to DirecTV, Hulu or cable. Really liked Dish so far.

Agree, we like Dish too.

I feel like all sides are losing in this - Bally’s/Sinclair and then YTTV / Hulu / Dish side. If you ever read comments in the YTTV Twitter posts, you’ll usually see a lot of complaining about fox sports regionals.

I will re-up immediately if YTTV gets Bally regionals back.

Its over.

The head of the company already said that theres no use coming back to the table. People that used that reason to move aren't coming back to the table anytime soon so they have less negotiating power than they did prior.

Its a disaster.
