Looking Ahead - The 2020 Offseason Thread

As long as nobody gets hurt, and Panda takes the bulk of the high leverage PH PAs from the pitcher, the bench may not be a huge issue.

Of course, that means TDA is going to get less rest than the Braves typically give the #1 catcher. Pache will be left to sink or swim. There is no backup plan for Riley. And they better wrap every starter in bubble wrap between games.

TDA getting less rest will hasten his regression won't it?? Also will effect his health problems from the past.

I’m not sure more playing time makes him more prone to injury as long as he gets a day off per week. Always felt everyday player injuries are more of a fluke thing.

TDA has had issues with concussions if I remember correctly. That could be an issue with more playing time behind the plate for sure.

Yeah he had like 3 concussions so far in his career. Everything else has been a fluke really. Still kinda scary counting on him to play that much since he never really has and his backup is Alex Jackson. I do think Panda is gonna be much better than people think though.

Hmm. Wonder if we take a flyer on Peraza.

I thought about him when he was an FA after the 2020 season, but isn't he redundant with Adrianza at this point?

I seem to remember some Mallex v. Ender debates when the Braves had them both and they've both turned into pumpkins within the same time frame.

Stlil a little surprised they haven't brought Reddick in to take a look since all the other 4th OF options have flopped - makes me worry that could move Waters' timeline up.

Seems if waters were being considered an option early that he'd have gotten more PA this spring. He could be hurt though... haven't really kept up with that

There was no room for Waters once it was determined no market for Ender and Ozuna relatively late signing and no DH

But he got next to no ABs when they were still running Almonte, Harris, and Harris out there daily. I just thought it was surprising that Waters was never in the box score.

Also, I really hope we sign Todd Frazier. He is still very much a useful player and would be a pretty fantastic bench piece, imo.

I forgot Reddick is still out there. We need a lefty with pop off the bench.

Reddick is a worse version of Neck (well not 2020 Neck). At least Neck could get on base at a decent clip. My worry is that Snit would use him the same way as Neck and Reddick would end up getting 400-500 at bats.
