First off any restriction on voting is odd
and what demographic is most effected here. The Jr League ?
Students, elderly and African Americans !!
I am sorry you cant recognize restrictive legislation aimed at the Black community , and lets not be coy, it was aimed at black Americans. Any legislation restricting Black people will be referenced as Jim Crow. Wonder why that is ?
You know better
Manipulated ?
the Lt Governor of Georgia agrees with my sentiments and for the same reasons

and why should people be forced to jump through hoops to vote ?
There are elderly that rely on Meals on Wheels to eat at least one good meal a day.
And it is assumed they have access to travel ?
Public transportation is a non factor in Georgia.
So instead of a literacy test or a poll tax there is an automobile access requirement ?
You are cool with that
Ballot drop boxes that afford people access after hours to cast a vote

you mentioned ballot harvesting --- please explain and show where and how this has been a problematic issue in Georgia.
Let me tell you a story. It was time to redraw the Congressional districts in Georgia. The General Assembly met and they determined that they should divide up the majority black communities in Atlanta and add them into districts with majority white suburban communities. This diluted the black voting strength, reduced the number of majority-minority districts, and so made minority representation much more difficult.
Was this motivated by racial animus? The effect was certainly detrimental to black representation so does that make it automatically racist?
Well, here's the rest of the story. The party that did this was the Democratic party. They saw Georgia turning more red and so attempted to gerrymander more Democrats into Congress. Their strategy was to divide up black communities as they were the most reliably Democrat voting areas. These communities would be added into white, suburban communities at such levels to give Democrats thin majorities in those districts. The districts were majority white but with white democrats added to the black communities, you had democrat majorities.
The goal of the democrats wasn't discriminatory, it was to keep power and in doing this they employed a method that harmed black voters. But the goal was simply to keep power.
I believe the same is true here. The original bill was to eliminate no excuse absentee voting which would have nuked groups like Stacy Abrams. That was dialed back to the voter ID which makes the job for those groups harder. The fact that those groups go after black votes was irrelevant to the GOP. The fact that they go after democrat votes was the key. If the groups instead targeted young, white voters living in urban areas that voted 90%+ for democrats, they would have still been targeted.
As for the Nat Geo thing, again, you can argue against the law. There are arguments to be made. My point is comparing it to Jim Crow is absolutely silly. Literacy tests were designed to be virtually impossible for black voters to pass. There were usually different tests given to black and white voters. This law requires a state issued ID to vote. The vast, vast majority of black voters already have a state issued ID.
As for ballot harvesting, when Biden carried Georgia and then both democrats won the runoffs, who got a lot of credit? Stacy Abrams. Her group and others like hers had a large impact on the election. Democrats proudly admit this. Why were these groups suddenly able to have such a larger impact? I don't think it's any secret that the Covid rules regarding absentee ballots opened opportunities for these groups. This brings us to ballot harvesting.
Was there ballot harvesting that went on? I don't know. But I do know that this last election showed there's opportunity for ballot harvesting and certainly a temptation to do it. I think there needs to be more protections against it as it has the potential to create a new era of political bosses.
Think of it this way, suppose there's an intersection that's dangerous. You can look at the blind approach to it and the fact that people speed approaching it and know that there's the potential for problems. You don't have to wait for there to be a wreck before you put up a red light. That's where I am with ballot harvesting in Georgia. I'm not sure if there's been a wreck (ballot harvesting) but I do know it's a danger and I don't want to wait for a wreck to fix it.
