GDT 4:6 Tyme to Smyle...

They called it fair, and let him circle the bases completely. Nats manager asked for review, then they called it foul. It was a foul. My problem is the review angle was garbage, and they changed the call that late.

You weren't watching, and you aren't reading what I wrote...

It was called fair. Then the umps got together and called it foul based on what another ump saw. Then the Braves asked for video review. Video review confirmed it was foul.

You are just looking for something to complain about because you want to feel like a victim of poor umpiring.

Depending on Martin, we have no MLB caliber right-handed relievers right now. Seems less than ideal.

The video review only confirmed the Nats have a trash broadcast. I guess I can take the word of the umpiring crew making a consensus decision? Or the fans?

46 strikeouts in 128 ABs from the offense - show me all the new metrics you'd like, you're not going to win games when you can't make contact at all.

Simply turning marginal Pitchers into studs.

I did see it. Pache circled the bases completely just like I said, then there was a huddle. It was poor officiating. If you know it's foul you don't let a guy circle the bases. I don't feel the braves were screwed bc I think it was foul, but it absolutely was poor umping

I’m sure there will be no overreactions after only the fourth game of the season.

There are overreactions, then there are realistic reactions.

If you can't make enough contact to beat a team with the Gnats' pen when you get 4 bombs against Scherzer, there's a problem.

Umm, when the ump calls it fair they always let the guy circle the bases. Just like any time they call it a HR mistakenly. Do you think they stop the guy mid stride and huddle? Umpire conferences literally always occur after the play finishes as initially called.

This is an absurd thing to be bent out of shape about.

#1 in MLB in k-rate.... 35%. Something we struggled with last year, too.

This is the misconception about K rate.

Getting out is bad. Always. The way a hitter gets out doesn’t matter.

Additionally, if the approach leads to more Ks as well as more power and/or walks, that’s fine too if the trade off is net positive. We have stats that tell exactly what that net result is.

The issue is the Braves just aren’t hitting, not how they are making the outs. The extra Ks aren’t coming with extra walks or more power, they are just more outs, which is bad...obviously.

Riley is striking out at a lower rate than the team overall.

Hopefully it's just a cold streak, but this is ridiculous. Not putting the ball in play renders BABIP a waste of something to track. Time to call Waters up I guess - at least he'd make the defense have to make a play on the ball.

Add to that the fact that we made the Phillies' pen look like massive studs over the weekend, and you've got something to be concerned about.
