Shift Leader
Two interesting things to note here. Arcia does have minor league options left. He's also set to make $2 million this year. So how are we affording this?
Probably deferring most of Smyly’s contract.

Maybe they conceive of Arcia as the actual back-up shortstop and Adrianza as a super-utility guy who can handle shortstop in an emergency? You can have them both on the roster if you're willing to go with *gasp* 13 pitchers, but that still leaves you with the question of why you'd particularly want Adrianza on the roster anyway if he's not going to spend meaningful time at shortstop.
Who was the old school manager who said something to the effect of "...give a whole team of shortstops and I will win a lot of game...?"
Of course the point is that a guy who can play SS can do a lot of things well. (Just remembered that quote;-))
There's a reason old school managers are now extinct. A team full of SS that all hit like SSs is going to be terrible.

Idk man. I'd take 8 A-Rods and call it a day.
I wonder if J-Lo ever took A-Rod eight times in one day.
Big number. The biggest. HOF even.
Not sure about the final roster dates, but wonder if this could finally be the end of the road for Camargo. If they can still release Johan and save close to a million bucks that covers a significant chunk of Arcia's salary.
Circling back around to this FWIW...
A player's arbitration salary becomes guaranteed if he's on the 25/26-Man Roster when the season begins. (https://www.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/non-guaranteed-contract)
No savings for releasing Camargo/Jackson/Dayton at this point - THAT'S why they shouldn't have been offered arbitration this past winter. Letting Camargo go at this point to keep both Arcia and Adrianza makes those guys significantly more expensive.
