Minor League Rosters

Kinda weird Jared Johnson isn’t in Rome or Augusta. Longenhagen had him in our top 25 prospects and said he’d touched 100 recently.

Johnson may be being kept at instructs as they try to get him a new breaking ball - maybe they want him to tighten it up some before trying it in game situations for whatever reason. He's one to keep an eye on for sure.

Lugbauer?

Jenista to 1B and Ramos makes the step up. A few of the pitchers (Stallings, Mora, Higginbotham) skipping High-A altogether. Those are the things that jump out at me.

JMO, but I think we're going to start seeing most Pitchers have a shorter incubation period moving forward. With increased velocity and the focus on elite spin rates becoming a much bigger part of the game, I just get the feeling that the majority of teams are starting to abandon extended attempts to actually teach these guys how to PITCH. They're looking for kids that can blow it out in short stints - say once through a lineup - and they'll figure the rest out on the fly.

The problem with this is that while we're seeing so few Pitchers that can go through a lineup more than twice, we also don't seem to be finding guys that can give teams 3 dominant innings twice a week (so far). If you have to wait 3-4 days before using a guy like that again (meaning the most he pitches is twice in the same week), wouldn't you be better off trying to get him to where he can make it through a lineup at least twice? Unless the plan is to expand rosters so teams can carry at least a couple more Pitchers, those guys don't seem to help much since they're "unavailable" much more often than teams need to run them out there.

Weather across the southeast looks bad tonight, wonder how many games will happen.

Wonder if there's more moves coming to the big league team. The delay on the Gwinnett roster seems really bizarre.

Order of the Gwinnett rotation: Kyle Muller, Kyle Wright, Bryse Wilson, Tucker Davidson, Jasseel De La Cruz.

Can muller pass bryse and Wright? Should the braves try wright and Wilson as relievers considering the lack of RH relievers?

Also think we may see Muller, Davidson, and De La Cruz get shots at making starts for the big club moving forward - Wilson and Wright are going to have to show significant signs of progressing because they've proven that they don't seem to be willing to TRUST whatever adjustments they make when they go down and come back up. If they were getting beat up here by trying different things it would be different, but we've now seen them fall into the same patterns whenever they're up for going on 3 years now. If they're not going to try something else, it may be time to give the other guys a shot.

Thought I read that they were thinking of moving Muller to the bullpen. If he harnesses his stuff, he could really be somebody.

That's a pretty decent AAAA roster. Jesse Chavez makes his way back to the Braves' after a decade away. I can remember when Travis Snider was a Top-10 prospect for the Blue Jays back in the late-aughts.

Just noticed there's no Kipnis on that list - thought he re-signed?
