Although it's maddening to plenty of us, it's probably fair to wonder whether Arcia sees any MLB time this year. If Dansby winds up in position to make $8 million plus next season there's a potential pretty quick $5 million (or more) savings.

Arica has been raking.... that is for sure .... but I’m not even close to giving up on Dansby yet .... I feel like he’s gonna figure it out and be a damn good hitter for a long time

May have to let dansby walk to keep FF

My guess is that the pending CBA and the potential for a strike may lead to the loss of both Swanson and Freddie. If Riley continues this recent surge for next couple months you would think rumors of an extension would come out in normal days but to me just another wait and see for AA.

This is why I mentioned this. You almost have to figure we're going to get at least one starter from the group of Ynoa/Wilson/Davidson that's capable of replacing Smyly on the cheap, but that still leaves two rotation spots to fill with the Morton/Smyly funds - I'm just not going to count on Soroka at all - if he makes it back that's great and makes things easier, but I think it's probably fair to worry about that at this point. Then you have to remember Acuna gets a $10 million raise next season AND Fried will get a significant bump in salary as well.

I personally think this is Morton's swan song and he won't be back, and I don't think there's any way you get someone you feel like you can count on to be a #2 or #3 on a short-term deal to replace him for $15 million so costs are going up there even if you're able to save most of Smyly's money. I'd love to see them take $5 million of that to put with Morton's money and try to get Lynn on a 2 year/$40 million deal. That would leave you with around $5 million left over to put with the potential $5 million you'd save on Dansby to pay for Acuna's raise with the Ender/d'Arnaud/Martin money to spend on Freeman's extension (assuming he gets a bump), arb raises, the bench, and the pen.

If I had to guess, just from seeing these box scores every day (thanks rico!), the lack of games hurt the pitchers far more than the hitters. We also have quite a few hitters in Gwinnett that had significant time in the majors these last two seasons. That helps.

So people honestly think Arcia went from being a below average MLB hitter to some sort of offensive force simply by putting on a Stripers uniform? Like, the moment he got to the state of Georgia, he had an epiphany that suddenly made him a good hitter?

Who's touting him as an "offensive force"?

Could he put up numbers close enough to Dansby's that the extra $5 million might be better spent elsewhere? Sure. Dansby's current wRC+ of 97 and wOBA of .313 certainly doesn't look that much better than the 96 and .336 Arcia put up in his last full season in 2020.

Is he as good as Dansby? Probably not. Is Dansby worth an extra $5 million or more? That answer's probably the same.

Dansby, to this point in their careers, has been far better than Arcia. So, yes, I’d say that Swanson is well worth the moderate sum of an extra 5 million dollars.

It it really moderate to Liberty Media? Lol. I can go either way. Dansby is what he is. Maybe if they let Atlanta play with the Striper jerseys, Arcia becomes what we thought Dansby would.

With fans in the stands now we should see payroll go back up in the offseason. FF will pretty much be brought back with no replacement in sight. The rotation will be the biggest need come the offseason with just Fried and Anderson and the 2 main pieces and Soroka as a maybe.
