GDT Saturday Night - Anderson storms NYC

The way this division is trending, the Mets could run away with it and do it with 10 guys on the IL.

Too lazy to go back and count, but I was told MANY times that they weren't anything to worry about a few months ago.

Nowhere to include that answer on the flag/pennant/trophy unfortunately.

There isn't. But the Mets are not a good team. The Braves being unlucky offensively and injured/horrible performances on pitching has nothing to do with that.

The Mets are on pace to win about 90 games, which is precisely what most people expected from them. So it seems a little odd to brag about the fact they are a good team, as if everyone didn’t already know they’d be decent.

The Braves are quite possibly the most disappointing team in baseball so far this year. A good portion of it is poor luck, but we are getting closer and closer to the point where it doesn’t matter what was “supposed” to happen because time is running out to correct course.

Yup.

They're not (right now anyway) - obviously benefitting from circumstances, but that doesn't change the fact that they're in first - and if they somehow do end up winning the division they shouldn't feel the need to apologize for being "lucky". How many times was the majority of the division pretty bad during the Braves' 15 year run?

As Enscheff rightly points out, they're not much better than some of us expected - but they're much more of a threat (at this point at the very least) then quite a few people were willing to admit when I mentioned them last winter. Some of that can be blamed on the Braves' level of play and lack of luck to this point (of course), but there were plenty of folks who acted like there wasn't going to be any regression from the Braves - and they were simply being unrealistic.

Bump.

Makes me feel better that we were an underachieving, frustrating team this time last year also. Hopefully the braves have mastered the art of saving their best for the stretch

If we win tonight, we'll be 24-26, which is exactly where we were last year. Oh, and there's one more WC spot this season. You guys need to chill out haha
