What a guy. He's the last Brave on the team from when Chipper was still playing.

Huh?
Thinking about going to local casino here and betting braves to win NL. It's +1620, so $100 wins $1,620. I think that's a good play.
Did y’all read the tweet? It’s a bullpen game. Isn’t that what y’all wanted?

Wright's FA is still very flat (only 6.5" of rise) and his SI is still by far his best fastball. So why did he throw 47 FAs and only 21 SIs last night?
Probably because the CU is better than his SL, and a CU pairs better with a FA than with the SI.
So you have Wright trying to throw 5 pitches, and can't control any of them. The FA is poor, so it's hard for him to be a FA/CU guy, but the SL isn't good so it's hard for him to be a SI/SL guy. He was getting almost 2400 RPM on the FA last night, which is plenty to generate rise, so that tells me he has horrid spin efficiency. The 2600+ RPM he gets on the CU is also plenty good.
Wright is a guy with raw parts and needs expert pitch crafting to work with him. He probably can't continue to throw 5 pitches that he can't control/execute. The concerning part is there has been almost zero improvement in any part of his game since the day he was drafted.
Also tough to do two bullpen games in a row. We just don't have a ton of great options right now.
I like it. I think you go good reliever to start though bc... well, that's the inning you face their best hitters. Why not Chavez when you know you'll be facing 6-9, 5-8, 7-1, whatever?
They’ve likely never seen or haven’t seen much of Chavez though. He should be good for one time through the order.
Of course, if he pitches well the first time through, I have no doubts Snit will try and stretch him through another inning.
Complete game coming!
Quick trivia: Who did the Braves trade to obtain Jesse Chavez and what was the complicating factor that forced the trade from the Braves' perspective?
Not nearly as hard if they were being developed and utilized correctly. Touki, Wilson, and De La Cruz are once through a lineup or 2-3 inning guys at best, so USE THEM THAT WAY. They all still have options left, so one could be up while the other two are kept on the same schedule in Gwinnett. If Wilson went 2-3 innings tonight and was sent down and replaced with Webb/Tice/Lopez tomorrow, you'd still have Jackson, Newk, and Tomlin up and available to give you multiple innings until the next time through. Call Touki up to replace Webb/Tice/Lopez next time through and you'd still have Jackson. Newk, and Tomlin up in case you need multiple inning guys again. Then do the same with De La Cruz the next time through. You could rotate just the three of them and still only be calling them up/sending them down every ten days.
If Max isn't ready to make his next start, Muller takes it.
The problem is that Snitker HAS TO take them out after 2-3 innings no matter how good he thinks they look on any given night. I don't think he's capable of doing that - he stayed with Minter for 3 innings against the Dodgers last fall for crying out loud. “To tell you the truth, we got an inning more or an inning and a half more than I thought we’d get out of him,” Braves manager Brian Snitker said.
What's the hold up on braves lineup? Someone getting promoted?
Complete game coming!
