Gotta disagree with Chip here. I believe it is entirely possible that Mattingly called on Lopez to hit Acuna with the first pitch. He may have believed that he would not be thrown out on the first pitch, and wanted to play head games with the Braves hitters. Lopez may not be the only one who knows whether it was intentional. That is the type of gamesmanship we might expect from Mattingly.
