GDT 7/4/21: Fish @ Braves - Arcia’s Braves Debut

I thought Morton was showing warning signs today and was cringing at leaving him in for the heart of the order, but I will patiently await a name for anyone you all feel confident bringing in the sixth there. Minter looked good when the damage was long done. They need most of the other decent ones for later. Again, it matters **** all because this team can’t score unless it’s a home run in the fifth inning or before, and, unfortunately for this collectively incompetent team, home runs don’t count for six runs each.

The facts disagree.

The Braves are 5th in the NL in walk rate.

The Braves are 8th in BA.

The Braves are 6th in OBP.

The Braves are 5th in runs scored.

The Braves are perfectly fine offensive team, regardless of what you think you’re seeing in a small anecdotal sample. The fact is they are short a big bat due to injury/stupidity, and they need to correct for that.

Wait…how did that run possibly score without a Hr? I was just told they can’t score any other way.

What inning was that run scored in? After the 5th? Weird…

Are they not first or second still in home runs? How many of those home runs, which is helping that fifth in runs?

Meanwhile, another strikeout in a spot with RISP and two outs with a chance to tie or take the lead.

After they literally just scored a run in a manner you said they can’t.

Your eye test is pretty faulty lol.

This type of erroneous “analysis” is precisely what analytics were invented and give teams huge advantage over this type of old dinosaur thinking haha.

Either way you slice it, they’re about to lose another series to a last-place team and completely negate the series they won against a first place team. But I’m glad the walk rate is good.

Yeah I should be content to settle with getting one run when we’re down two. Baby steps I suppose.

All teams hit worse vs other teams high leverage BP arms.

Have you ever watched modern baseball?

Your archaic takes on baseball from the 1980s are hilarious lol.

Well, they’re roughly a true talent .500 team right now. If you’re expecting more than that you aren’t really paying attention and/or are clueless.

Mediocre teams end up with mediocre records because they are mediocre. They sometimes win a series and sometimes lose a series. Because they are mediocre.
