I didn't see the update. My mistake. Either way, he'll be back in Sept with Thor.
I have serious doubts Thor returns this year.

The real question is. How happy do you think the DBacks are for getting Caleb Smith and Humberto Mejia for Marte instead of Luzardo
And deGrom can’t stay healthy now either. The Mets just aren’t scary. This division is definitely gonna be a 3 team race the rest of the way.
I mean, I’m pretty confident that the Mets end up winning the division, but I don’t think the separation is as large as some people here want to make out. Braves have a snowball’s chance in hell at pulling this off.
You know a snowball has no chance in hell.

And that wasn't a rental. Everyone here gets to be a broken record about something and I realize that I go on and on (and on and on) about it, but Anthopoulos really missed the boat by not acquiring S. Marte last trade deadline. Marte's presence would have (1) been the CF that would have allowed us not to bank on Pache, and (2) lessened the need to wait on Ozuna (and make a bigger financial commitment in terms of total contract value than one year of S. Marte). I get the financial pressures, but given (2), I can't see why whoever was holding the pursestrings couldn't figure that the presence of S. Marte would have given the team greater financial flexibility.
Yeah we could get Buxton but he just screams Melvin Upton part 2 to me.

Marte's trade last year was more about cash than anything else. Any team willing/able to take on salary was in a very strong position.

"Of course, the 2020 season has brought about some pressing revenue losses for all 30 clubs, and D-backs owner Ken Kendrick was among the most outspoken owners about the hardships faced by teams with fans unable to attend games. "
Remember that little pandemic that massively cut revenues? The Braves were not immune to that reality.
The fact the Marlins were able to take advantage is surprising, and speaks to the changes that are hopefully happening in that org.

Agree. Theres just something about trusting a starter the first few weeks back in a pennant race\playoff game.
