Who doesn't want Buxton and his career 96 WRC+

Isn’t that sort of discounting his improvements since first joining the league. Now I will admit I haven’t looked at advanced numbers on him over the last two years. But I doubt he is as good as he was earlier this year nor as bad as he was his first two years.

He's the best defensive CF in baseball by a mile and has done nothing but improve, having a monster year before the injury.

He's also entertaining as Hell. From Georgia. African American. Etc, etc.

But by all means, put another boring stiff in center field.

Legitimate physical health concerns aside, Buxton was really terrible when he first came up. Couldn't hit a breaking ball to save his life. He still has pretty lousy on-base skills, but he's improved mightily over the past few seasons. He is very good defensively but that is almost solely due to his remarkable speed. From my observation (which isn't gospel by any means), he doesn't get a particularly good jump on the ball, but he can run down just about anything. Very good arm.

Keeping him on the field has always been the problem, Probably pulled a hammy coming through the birth canal. That said, he is a phenomenal athlete whose baseball skills have lagged a bit. I can go either way on the guy. He makes sense if 2022 is an audition for a longer term deal.

Those things don't matter at all.

You see a monster year. I see a 412 BABIP that's not sustainable at all. And he can barely get on the field. He makes JD Drew look durable.

And they left the city of Atlanta (predominantly black) for the lily white suburbs.
