GDT 8/8/21: Gnats @ Braves - Intresting Lineup

Would rather see Riley hitting third and Heredia getting a start in center with Pederson and Soler on the corners, Duvall at first and Riley at third.
 
Given the actual importance of the 3 spot in the lineup, this may actually be the correct order. And given the worst hitter should be batting 8th, Smith ended up in the correct spot, even if it was unintentionally.

I do agree that Heredia should be in there over Adrianza, but it isn’t a huge concern.
 
Tomorrow being an off day and every game crucial at this point I would think Snit or AA would be more concerned about the lineup. FWIW I would have let Dansby leadoff and bat Albies 3rd to day.
 
The importance of the 3 spot in the order is vastly overrated by dinosaurs. That spot comes up very often in the first with nobody on and 2 outs, therefore it is less important than 1, 2, and 4.
 
Remember when Ozzie scared pitchers? Ozzie hitting first is slightly better than smith in the 8-spot.

Not too many other options out there right now. Could try Dansby. Looks like they want to keep Soler second for now. Pederson leading off against a lefty would make heads explode.

I'm just frustrated with him totally disappearing bc he's hitting leadoff. At this point, I'm not sure we can afford to leave him there bc it seems to totally ruin him as a hitter.
 
Before fools chime in to complain about Corbin using 16 pitches in the first 2 innings, it’s important to realize the goal of batters should be to swing at pitches they can do damage on. If that pitch comes early in the PA, they should swing.

I’m not saying that’s what the Braves are doing so far today, but let’s at least frame the discussion properly.
