The Coronavirus, not the beer

"For the delta variant, the R0 is now calculated at between six and seven," Wenseleers says. So it's two- to three-times as contagious as the original version of SARS-CoV-2 (R0 = 2 to 3) but less contagious than the chickenpox (R0 = 9 to 10).

So why did the CDC say the delta variant was "just as transmissible as" the chickenpox?

For one, the leaked document underestimated the R0 for chickenpox and overestimated the R0 for the delta variant. "The R0 values for delta were preliminary and calculated from data taken from a rather small sample size," a federal official told NPR. The value for the chickenpox (and other R0s in the slideshow) came from a graphic from The New York Times, which wasn't completely accurate.

This might be the most disturbing thing I've seen since last March. Unbelievable.

As predictable as the sun rising in the morning.

When Desantis is about to finish his first year as President the media will begin to run pieces about how we would have been better off with Trump as president.

As vaccination rates rise through Red States, Republican voters are having to face the enormity of the lies they have been ingesting for so long. The plain fact that is going to echo in the collective consciousness of these Republican strongholds for years to come is that the lies told to them by their party leaders not only caused them some inconvenience and public humiliation, but also a lot of death and misery. While some will be able to concoct other false narratives to protect their own egos, others are are wiping the fog out of their eyes and beginning to see the light.

What red states you predicting will flip?

Not sure if this was posted yet

The study found that in July in Florida, where COVID cases are at an all-time high and the delta variant is prevalent, the risk of a breakthrough case was 60% lower for Moderna recipients as compared to Pfizer recipients.

Similarly, in Minnesota last month, the authors found that the Moderna vaccine (also known as mRNA-1273) was 76% effective at preventing infection, but the Pfizer vaccine (known as BNT162b2) was 42% effective.

Lucky for me.

We got Moderna as well. Not sure if it's the correct terminology but apparently it had more of a viral load? in the vaccine. Which is why the side effects were apparently more severe with it over Pfizer but is making it a little more resistant to this new strain.

I honestly feel this is going to replace the seasonal flu as the dominant seasonal respiratory illness. We will need yearly boosters and just have to deal with it. In turn the mortality of this will continue to decline to 'acceptable' levels and things get back to normal.

If any part of this is not true, let's hear it.
